Working at Mcdonald’s

My first job was to work at McDonald's when I was 16. I worked there for two years and learned a lot.
I had both good and bad experiences that are useful in my life.
Firstly, the work environment at McDonald's is very stressful due to the number of people visiting
simultaneously. The peak customer period is during summer, it feels like there's never a break with a
continuous flow of vehicles and people until the restaurant closes. Multitasking is an important
aspect of working at McDonald's. For example, I was usually the cashier handling the drive-thru
service my tasks included taking orders, preparing drinks, and managing payments at the window.
Initially, it was stressful, but I adapted and it became manageable.
The worst part was the workplace being very dirty due to grease, and the lingering smell after an 8-
hour shift of non-stop movement. Most of my colleagues were around my age and from the same
neighborhood, so communication wasn't difficult. The best thing I learned, which still helps me, is to
remain professional in challenging situations. At McDonald's, we often encountered situations that
could escalate, like dealing with rude customers or incorrect orders. Maintaining professionalism
without being overwhelmed by emotions is crucial everywhere.
In conclusion, working at McDonald's as a first job might seem unappealing to most teens, but in the
end, no one regrets it because of the valuable lessons learned for the future.
