Question 1: Historically, the introduction of technology has caused profound changes in the labor market and, temporarily at least, displaced peoples from jobs. Discuss whether the introduction of CASE technology is likely to have the same consequences for software engineers. If you dont think it will, explain why not? If you think that it will reduce job opportunities, is it ethical for the engineers affected to resist the introduction of this technology passively and actively? Question 2: Explain why programs which are developed using evolutionary development are likely to be difficult to maintain. Write a one page note on Spiral development. Question 3(a): Explain why the intangibility of software systems poses special problems for information systems project management. Question 3(b): As a programmer, you are offered promotion to project manager but you feel that you can make a more effective contribution in a technical rather than a managerial role. Discuss whether you should accept the promotion? Question 4: The following figure sets out a number of activities, durations, and dependencies. Question 5: You are asked by your manager to deliver software to a schedule which you know can only be met by asking your project team to work unpaid overtime. All team members have young children. Discuss whether you should accept this demand from your manager and whether you should persuade your team to give their time to the organization rather than their families. What factors must be significant in your decision?
