The School as a Learning Environment

My Tools

As you move around the campus, activity forms are provided for you to document
your observations. It is advised that you read the entire worksheet before proceeding to the
school site. A good understanding of the activities and task to be accomplished in the activity
sheet will yield better learning results.

really helps a big impact on the learning in the students.I can say that this is a conducive for
learning in the basic education or in elementary.because the learners in this school are kids
and the campus is good for their play time and learning. So this kind of condition of a school
will contribute a lot to the learning of students

How does this relate to your knowledge of a child and adolescent developments? How does this
relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?

This kind of campus and classrooms that KUSWAGAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

has, relates a lot in my knowledge on the child and adolescent development like in constructing a
campus and structuring a classrooms should consider the level of ability of the learner, like if you
are structuring classroom for first grader, your display should be level on their age,the choices of
color,and display posted.

Yes,because aside from the environment which is very clean,it has the facilities which are
very important for a school to have and I could really feel that the school is very child friendly
one.

2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning?

A school campus that is conducive to learning is one that provides a positive and
supportive environment for students, teachers, and staff. It should be safe, clean, well lighted and
ventilated, well-maintained, with ample resources and facilities to support teaching and learning.
The campus should also be designed to promote a sense of community and belonging, with
spaces for socializing, collaboration, and relaxation.

To create a conducive learning environment on the school campus, there should be clear
expectations for behavior and conduct that are consistently enforced. Positive relationships
between students, teachers, and staff should be promoted, and opportunities for student
involvement and leadership should be available. Teachers should have access to professional
development opportunities to improve their teaching skills and knowledge, and resources should
be available to support the diverse learning needs of students.

3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning?

feel comfortable and valued. Clear expectations should be set for students in terms of their
behavior, participation, and learning outcomes. Positive relationships should be built between
teachers and students, and among students themselves. The classroom should have a student-
centered approach to learning, with opportunities for student choice and voice, and active
engagement in the learning process. Teachers should provide supportive feedback that helps
students improve their learning, and access to resources should be available to support their
learning needs. When all of these factors are in place, students are more likely to be motivated,
engaged, and successful in their learning

Creating a classroom conducive to learning in the future requires a focus on several
key factors. First, it's important to create a positive and supportive classroom environment
that encourages student engagement and participation. This can be achieved through the
use of clear expectations for behavior, supportive feedback, and a focus on building positive
relationships with students.

Second, it's important to use effective teaching strategies that are designed to meet
the diverse learning needs of students. This can be achieved through the use of
differentiated instruction, project-based learning, and other student-centered approaches.

Finally, it's important to create a classroom environment that promotes student well-
being and mental health. This can be achieved through the use of mindfulness practices,
access to counseling and other support services, and a focus on creating a safe and inclusive
classroom environment.

Overall, creating a classroom conducive to learning requires a holistic approach that

addresses the social, emotional, and academic needs of students. By focusing on these key
factors, teachers can create a learning environment that supports student success and
achievement.

The voice of the teacher can have a significant impact on classroom instruction. A teacher's
voice can set the tone of the classroom, convey enthusiasm or boredom, and establish authority.
A teacher's tone and delivery can also influence student engagement and attention, as well as
their comprehension and retention of the material being taught.

For example, a teacher with a clear and confident voice, who speaks in a lively and
engaging manner, can capture the interest of students and help them stay focused and motivated.
Conversely, a teacher with a monotonous or dull voice may struggle to maintain student attention
and interest, leading to disengagement and poor academic performance.

In addition, a teacher's voice can also impact the emotional climate of the classroom. A
teacher who speaks in a kind, supportive, and encouraging manner can create a positive and
inclusive classroom environment, fostering positive relationships between students and between
the teacher and the students. Conversely, a teacher who speaks in a harsh or critical manner can
create a negative and stressful classroom environment, leading to negative interactions between
students and between the teacher and the students.

2. How does the functionality of the teacher affect classroom discipline?

As I observed during my classroom visit at Kauswagan Elementary School the functionality
of a teacher is a critical factor in maintaining effective classroom discipline. A teacher's
functionality refers to their ability to effectively manage the classroom, establish rules and
expectations, and enforce consequences when necessary.

A teacher who is organized, prepared, and consistent in their approach to classroom

management can create a positive and structured learning environment that promotes discipline
and order. On the other hand, a teacher who is disorganized, unprepared, or inconsistent in their
approach to classroom management can create chaos and confusion, leading to disciplinary
issues and disruption.

The teacher's ability to communicate effectively with students and establish clear
expectations for behavior is also crucial in maintaining classroom discipline. A teacher who
communicates expectations clearly and consistently can establish a positive and respectful
learning environment that fosters discipline and order. Additionally, a teacher who provides
positive reinforcement for good behavior and fair consequences for negative behavior can further
promote discipline and order in the classroom.

3. Why do we need to check on the physical aspects of classroom management?

During my classroom observation, checking on the physical aspects of classroom

management helps to identify any potential barriers to effective teaching and learning. For

example, if the classroom is poorly lit or overcrowded, it can affect students' concentration and
engagement, and teachers may struggle to deliver effective instruction. Similarly, if the classroom
lacks essential resources such as textbooks, technology, or teaching aids, it can hinder the
teacher's ability to deliver high-quality instruction.

Checking on the physical aspects of classroom management helps to identify any safety
hazards or risks that could affect the students' well-being. Observers can assess the classroom
environment to ensure that it is safe and secure for students.

In summary, checking on the physical aspects of classroom management during classroom

observation is crucial to ensure that the classroom environment is conducive to effective teaching

The statement "no amount of good instruction will come out without effective
management" emphasizes the importance of effective classroom management in delivering
high-quality instruction. Even if a teacher possesses excellent instructional skills and
knowledge, their efforts can be undermined by poor classroom management practices.

Effective management involves creating a structured and positive learning environment

that promotes student engagement, motivation, and learning. A teacher's ability to manage
the classroom effectively can have a significant impact on student behavior, attitudes, and
academic achievement.

are crucial in facilitating effective learning. I should strive to develop and implement
management strategies that promote a positive and structured learning environment.
Moreover, I should continuously monitor and adapt my management practices to ensure that
they are effective and responsive to the needs of my students. By doing so, I can create a
classroom environment that supports high-quality instruction and promotes student success.

As a future educator here are some of my plans in ensuring effective classroom
management strategies that can use to create a positive and structured learning environment in
my classrooms:

1. Establish clear expectations: Set clear rules and expectations for behavior and academic
performance at the beginning of the school year. Communicate these expectations to students
and consistently reinforce them throughout the school year.

2. Positive reinforcement: Use positive reinforcement to motivate and reward good behavior and
academic performance. This can include verbal praise, recognition, and rewards such as stickers
or certificates.

3. Consistent consequences: Establish consistent consequences for negative behavior and
academic performance, such as loss of privileges or detention. Ensure that these consequences
are fair and consistently enforced.

4. Classroom organization: Keep the classroom organized and clutter-free, with clear and
accessible areas for students to store their materials and belongings.

5. Effective communication: Develop effective communication skills and build positive

relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. This can help to prevent and resolve conflicts
and promote a positive classroom environment.

learners:

1. Differentiated instruction: This involves modifying instruction to meet the needs of individual
students. This can include using different teaching methods, materials, and assessments to
accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
