-State your objectives

Good morning. My name is ----------------, and for today I will be talking about the revolution of
aviation.

-Introduce the invention

Well, based on this topic I will be explaining about a remarkable invention which has change the
ways of transportation.

- Describe the invention

First and foremost, what type of vehicle would come to mind when we think of aviary. In my
opinion, I would say an aircraft. What is an aircraft, an aircraft it classified as a vehicle or machine
that is able to fly by gaining support from the air. It counters the force of gravity by using either
static lift or by using the dynamic lift of an airfoil, so it can stay up in the air for a long period of time.
The word aircraft might not sound familiar others, maybe in other words, such as ballon, helicopter,
chopper, airship, jet, airplane or a blimp.

- Describe what the invention looks like

Next, I will be describing about the first ever airplane to be built. It was built in 1903 by the Wright
brothers. This airplane, known as the Wright Flyer. It has a wingspan of 12.3m and a length of 6.4m.
It’s weight alone is about 274kg, unoccupied. The mainframe of the Wright Flyer was made from
timber and fabric. Wood was the material of choice in early aircraft because of its good strength-to-
weight ratio.

- Explain how it works (refer to the diagram)

Next, we are going to look at how it works. There are two propellers placed behind the wings which
helps push the machine through the air. To maintain the power of the propeller, the Wright brothers
had created their own engine and reduce the weight of the airplane.
Since there were no internal combustion engines available that fit the specialized needs of an
aircraft, the Wright brothers made one of their own. With the help of machinist Charlie Taylor they
built a four-cylinder, gasoline-powered engine that delivered 12 horsepower and weighed 170
pounds. To guide the airplane in flight, the Wrights used a pulley system to control the rudders and
warp the wings.

-Talk about the inventor

Over and above that, who are the Wright brothers. They are Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright.
Wilbur Wright is the middle child of 5 siblings and Orville Wright is his younger brother by four years.
Their father, Milton Wright would always bring back toys whenever he is on the road. In 1878, he
brought back a small model helicopter for his boys based on a model built by French aviation
pioneer Alphonse Pénaud. It is simply made of cork, bamboo and paper, and powered by a rubber
band to twirl its blades. The brothers have shown their love of aeronautics and flying ever since.
However, their aviation dream didn’t just start from there. They went from setting up a printing
business to opening a bicycle store and workshop which enables them to further their interest in
flying.

-Describe the problem it solves or the need it satisfies

In conclusion, thankfully due to their successful development, the invention of the airplane has led
to new technologies, new ways of battle, modern warfare, and a much safer and more efficient way
of travel.

-Ask for question

Well, this brings me to the end of my talk. Thank you for your attention and if you have any
questions, I’ll be pleased to answer them.
