Aims of the lesson:

⦁ to develop the pupils’ listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills;


⦁ to present and activate the vocabulary of the unit;
⦁ to present and practise directions;
⦁ to provide guidance in practising the vocabulary and grammar structures;

Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be better able to:
⦁ talk about pets;
⦁ ask and answer to questions, using left and right directions.

Anticipated problems:
- some pupils might feel nervous and reluctant to participate in the activity, thus they may need assistance;
- some students might need further help and extra indications in solving the tasks and they may also need
some of these indications to be given in Romanian.

Stages of the lesson


1. Warm-up
Objectives:

• To organise the class


• To create a pleasant atmosphere

Teacher greets the class and checks if anyone is absent.
Students’ activity:
Pupils greet the teacher.

2. Lead-in
Objectives:
• To prepare students for the lesson
• To break the ice
• To spark students’ curiosity
Teacher’s activity:
T asks the students what animal they would like to be.
T invites the Ss to answer the questions. T corrects them if necessary.
Students’ activity:
Ss answer the questions.

3. Presentation of the new topic


Objectives:
• To introduce the new vocabulary
• To practise pronounciation
Teacher’s activity:
T plays the audio from their textbooks, encouraging the Ss to listen. Then, T. pronounce the new vocabulary
(elephant, rat, frog, spider, lizard, duck, dog and cat) and invite the Ss to pronouce them as well.
Then, T shows some objects on the right side and some on the left side and have the Ss to say where the
objects are placed.
Students’ activity:
Ss listen to the audio, then to the teacher's pronunciation. Ss pronouce the words as well and translate them.
Ss look at the objects and raise their hands to say if they are on the right or on the left.

4. Practice and Reinforcement


Objectives:
• To develop Ss listening skills
• to consolidate the acquisition of the information on the topic
Teacher’s activity:
T plays a song and invite the Ss to sing along. Then, T asks the Ss what they liked the most about the song. Then
T shows a picture of a lizard and have the Ss to guess it.
Students’ Activity:
Ss sing the song along with the teacher, then answer the teacher's questions.

5. Production
Objectives:
• - to provide guidance in practising the previously acquired vocabulary;
• - to identify weak areas and provide opportunities for consolidation;
Teacher’s activity:
T. anounce the student that they will play The Hot Seat game. T will place a student on a chair in the front of
the class and will show a image of an object from the previous units behind the student. The student will ask
their class yes or no questions and will try to guess the object. They will only have five tries.
Students’ Activity
Students listen to teachers’ instruction. One student will volunteer to sit on the hot chair and try to guess the
object behind him.

6. Feedback and Homework


Objectives:
• To get feedback from the pupils
Teacher’s activity:
