HOSE BREAKAGE DURING TESTING ‫انقطاع الخرطوم أثناء االختبار‬

 Although hydrotesting is normally associated with ‫رغما من مصاحبة االختبار الهيدروجيني بالضغط المنخفض أال انه قد قد يحدث‬

INHALATION OF PURE NITROGEN ‫استنشاق نيتروجين نقي‬

FAILURE OF PRESSURISED SYSTEM

INADEQUATE EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
 Injury potentials can be greatly increased if suitable
emergency procedures have not been established
prior to work commencement.
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN
 Supervisors and/or responsible persons must ensure
that suitable emergency procedures have been
implemented prior to pressure testing. Such
procedures and arrangements will be discussed with
the workforce.
 Job discussion to be held prior to work starting.
 In order to establish suitable emergency procedures,
Managers/Supervisors and/or responsible persons
will carry out an assessment of the following: the
area of work, the number of personnel involved,
suitable access to the work area, location of first aid
and fire fighting facilities, accessibility to emergency
service, etc.
POTENTIAL RISK: CARRYING OUT REPAIRS
ON PRESSURISED SYSTEMS
 Serious injuries can occur if personnel proceed to
undertake maintenance work on the system whilst it
is under pressure.
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN
 No work will take place on pressurised systems.
 Supervisors and/or responsible persons must ensure
that the system has been depressurised prior to any
maintenance work.
 All personnel involved in pressure testing operation
must be competent and a designated “Responsible
person” present at all times.
 All procedures associated with pressure testing and
relevant safety precautions must be obeyed.

 POTENTIAL RISK:
CONFLICTING ACTIVITIES
 Accidents can occur if other activities are carried out
near the pressurised system which could have an
impact on the safety of the system, i. e. crane lifting
operations overhead.
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN
Supervisors and/or responsible persons shall ensure that
no activities (which could have a direct impact on
testing operation) are carried out during the testing
process. All areas involved in the test shall be
barriered off and signs erected to warn other
personnel.
POTENTIAL RISK:
INADEQUATE SYSTEM OF WORK
Serious accidents can occur if a “Permit to work” has not
been implemented prior to work commencement.
PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN
 Managers/Supervisors and/or responsible persons
will ensure that a “Method statement” has been
implemented to cover the pressure testing operation.
Areas that must be included in the proposed “Method
statement” are: - the method of work, responsibilities,
access, emergency procedures and arrangements,
conflicting activities, barriers and/or enclosure of the
testing area to prevent access to unauthorised
personnel, etc.
