What is tea?

Tea (English: tea) (Hanzi: ; Pinyin: chá; Pe̍ h-ōe-jī: tê) is a
caffeine-containing beverage, an infusion made by
steeping the dried leaves, leaflets, or petioles of the
Camellia sinensis plant with hot water. Tea derived from
the tea plant is divided into four groups: black tea, oolong
tea, green tea, and white tea.

Green Tea

Green tea is one of the most well-


known types of tea. Green tea leaves do
not undergo significant fermentation
after picking, thus retaining their green
color and antioxidant content.
White Tea
White tea is the least processed type of tea.
White tea leaves are usually picked young and
do not undergo fermentation. White tea has a
mild flavor and fresh aroma and is high in
antioxidants.
Black Tea
Black tea is tea that undergoes complete
fermentation after picking. Black tea leaves
have a strong flavor and a darker color than
green tea. Black tea is often consumed with
added milk or sugar and has a rich, tangy
flavor.
Oolong Tea
Oolong tea is a type of tea that undergoes
partial fermentation after picking. This
type of tea has a higher level of
fermentation than green tea and black tea.
It is more complex and has a wide variety
of flavors, ranging from mild to full.
