Domain – Production Process


Core Standard 4: Students create audio and video projects to
demonstrate an understanding of the production process.

Unit Title: Audio and Video Production


Day 1: Introduction to Audio and Video Production
Objective: Students will understand the production process of audio and video projects.
Assessment: Students will create a concept map or graphic organizer to demonstrate
their understanding of the production process.
Key Points:
- Introduction to the production process
- Roles and responsibilities in audio and video production
- Pre-production, production, and post-production stages
- Importance of planning and organization in production

Day 2: Principles of Audio Production


Objective: Students will design audio projects incorporating professional audio
principles.
Assessment: Students will create a short audio clip demonstrating their understanding
of audio principles using Audacity.

- Importance of audio quality in production
- Techniques for recording and editing audio
- Proper use of microphones and other audio equipment

- Composition techniques for creating visually appealing projects

Day 5: Studio Equipment and Production Techniques
Objective: Students will demonstrate proper use and operation of studio equipment and
production techniques while working as part of a production team.

their ability to work with studio equipment and apply production techniques.
Key Points:
- Overview of studio equipment (e.g., cameras, microphones, switching/mixing
consoles, teleprompter)
- Techniques for operating studio equipment effectively
- Collaboration and teamwork in audio and video production
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting during production

Possible Culminating Activities:


1. Film Festival: Students showcase their audio and video projects in a school-wide
film festival, where they have the opportunity to present their work to an audience.
2. Podcast Series: Students collaborate to create a podcast series, where they
produce episodes on various topics of interest, applying the production skills they have
learned.
3. News Broadcast: Students work together to produce a news broadcast, taking on
different roles such as anchors, reporters, editors, and camera operators.
