Subject: Caldero usability test

Dear IMUSA,
We have conducted a usability test on how to make white rice with a caldero. Tests went well,
with the three test subjects enjoying the overall process and making rice in the caldera. However,
there are a few changes that were implemented. In the mock-up included in the memo, we have
changed the following. We noticed that there was improper use of the measurements and
supplies. We noticed that people did not follow the 1:1 ratio and were also forgetting steps in the
very beginning. My team and I have come up with brief yet detailed instructions on how to
properly make rice using a caldero. My team and I will be sending out a memo that has our
instructions attached so that you may send back proper feedback.
Once the instructions have been approved, my team and I will upload them to our website with
the proper supplies. Thank you for taking the time out to help advance our company.

Best,
Presley Rodriguez

Good morning everyone! I hope everyone Is having a great morning, I am writing

you per the email that was sent yesterday to inform everyone about the newly
updated instructions. My team and I have decided to add instructions to the
Caldero manual on how to properly make rice. My team and I believe that these
simple instructions will allow customers to have a different experience and try new
ways of cooking. We noticed damage to the product due to a lack of test subjects to
fully understand the 1:1 ratio and also skipping a few steps. Given the feedback
from our customers, they feel that the measurements should go into more detail.
My team and I are aware that customers can find other instructions on how to
properly make white rice while using a caldero, but our job is to give them proper
and thorough instructions with the purchase of their caldero set.

Summary
After running proper tests with customers, my team and I have updated our
instructions so that it is easier to understand the basic materials and concepts of
making white rice with a caldero.
Preparations
 First, you are going to want to measure out how many cups of rice you want to cook.
 Once rice has been measured, pour into a bowl, and wash the rice with water.
 Wash rice more than once until the water looks clear.
 While cleaning the rice take the cadero and put water to boil.
 Boil water on high heat
 NOTE: When measuring water for boiling, the measurement of water should always add
up to the amount of rice you are cooking.
 Example: 1 cup of rice = 1 cup of water
 Add salt and canola oil to water when boiling.

Cooking
 Once the water has come to a complete boil add the clean rice to the water and turn down
the heat to medium.
 Stir the rice for about 10 minutes or until it has sucked up most of the water in the pot.
 The rice should have a mushy consistency and look like rice pudding.
 Once the rice has sucked up the water, put foil on the inside of the lid and cover the rice.
 Turn down the heat to Low heat and let the rice cook for about 35-40 minutes.
 Once the rice is fully cooked, put about a spoonful of Canola oil in the rice and stir It all
around, to break up the rice.
 Put rice into a separate container and scrape the hard remains into a small bowl.

We decided to not add pictures because my team and I feel that it is not
necessary for the process. We feel that if pictures had been added they would
not have been helpful and distracting to the customer.

Conclusion
In conclusion, my team and I feel that adding these instructions to the
packaging with the calderos will be helpful to customers. We feel that it will
allow them to properly test out the caldero and give them the chance to try
something that they might not have ever used before. We would like to
appreciate your participation and time to look over our instructions. It is very
important to adapt to consumers' wants and needs.

Recommendations
 Putting the instructions with the manual when shipped with the caldero
 Allow easy access to all consumers
 Add more detailed instructions if need be
