Rationale

A solar panel, also known as a photovoltaic (PV) panel, is a device that converts

sunlight into electricity. With this matter, the researchers find solar panels helpful to

BNSC's classrooms and offices as an alternative source of energy towards cost

reduction.

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to investigate the solar panels as an alternative energy source at

BNSC settings towards cost-minimization.

Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents?

2. What is the perception of respondents about the importance of solar panel

installation?

3. Is there any relationship between profile of respondents and

4. Is there any relationship between the effect of solar panel installation as an

alternative energy source to electricity cost minimization?

5. What plan of action or recommendation maybe proposed based on the results

of the study?
Literature

solar can often save your money if you are considering a solar installation to

avoid the high cost of connection to the electricity grid (Boxwell, 2016).

Study

In a study conducted at Pangasinan State University (PSU) found that a PV system

could generate up to 57% of PSU’s electricity needs, resulting in a 38% reduction in its

monthly electricity bill. The payback period was estimated to be 9.5 years (Pereyras,

2019).

Statistical Treatment

To provide interpretations of the data gathered, various statistical methods were

employed in order to draw substantive findings and conclusions from collected data.

1. To determine the demographic profile of the respondents, Simple Frequency and

Percentage Method was used.

F
Formula: %= x 100
N
Where: F – frequency

N – Total number of Respondents

100 – Constant value of factor

2. To determine the perception of respondents about importance of solar panels

intallation, Weighted Mean was used.

Formula: x=
∑ fx
N

Where: ∑ fx – the sum of the products of the

frequency and the points in the scale
N – Total number of Respondents

3. To determine the significant relationship between the profile of the respondents,

effect of solar panel installation as an alternative energy source and effect of

solar panel installation as to electricity cost minimization, the chi-square test of

significance in contingency tables is used:

Formula: X2 = ∑ (O-E) 2
E
Where:

O= observed cell frequency

E= expected or theoretical frequency

X2 = chi-square
