The Cauliflower Jellyfish, as the name suggests, resembles the white cauliflower

due to its crown-like shape. Crown jellyfish and sea jellies are other names for
them. These organisms have a six-month life span. Cauliflower bells are 7.8 inches
tall, 6.7 inches wide, and have eight limbs that protrude from them. Except for
humans, these blue-purple jellyfish are the most deadly to their prey. They like to
spend the day at 3,000 feet in the frigidly cold water of the Atlantic and Pacific
seas, then swim up to the surface at night. They light themselves to fend off
predators.

So far, the Lion's Mane Jellyfish is the biggest known species. It is approximately
120 feet long and eight feet broad. Its name comes from its red and yellow
tentacles. The Lion's Mane has up to 1200 tentacles that may reach 100 feet in
length and carries numerous neurotoxins. These enormous creatures prefer the
chilly waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, and North Pacific seas. They begin tan
to orange as babies, then grow to vivid crimson to dark purple. They eat small fish,
jellyfish, and crustaceans such as crabs, shrimp, and lobsters.
