About 97% of the rainfall is receiving during monsoon only. Half the precipitation is received in July to August. The rainy days are around 49 days. The temperature begins to rise from March onwards. April and May months are the hottest with maximum temperature ranging from 99 degree F to 101 degree F and above. With the break of monsoon in June, the maximum temperature falls down to 87 degree F till September. Again the temperature shoots up to 96 degree F in October. With the one set of winter, the maximum temperature falls down to 87 Degree F and it remains so till February. December and January are the coldest months with maximum temperature of 53 Degree F. The diurnal variation of temperature is maximum in winter, the mean being 32 degree F and the least in monsoon which is about 14 degree F. CROP PATTERN Due to heavy rains, no adsali crop is grown in this side. The plant cane is planted from October to February and its ratoon is kept from November till end of March. The planting is given month-wise from October to January, according to the monthly requirement of the factory, whereby the crop is necessarily harvested between 12 to 14 months of planting. Planting is sanctioned to members only. The rated crushing capacity of the plant is 5000 tones cane per day at present. However, we crush about 25% more. The normal crushing for the season is 10,00,000 tones of cane for which, we require 8500 hectares under cane. The percentage of plantation to ratoon is 40:60 proportions. It mostly depends on the area of ratoon kept. Secondly, we have to complete with the crops like banana, paddy, vegetables, combination which gives more margin on profit than that of sugarcane. The average yield of plant cane is 90.80 MT/hectare that of first ratoon is about 84.86 MT/hectare and second ratoon 69.44 MT/hectare. The factory starts for crushing in the first fortnight of October with a recovery of 8.5%. It is increased by about one degree every month till it reaches the maximum of 12.35% in March. From the fourth week of March, it begins to decrease till 10.50 to 11.00 by April end. In May, it goes down till to reach 9.00. [File Name: Chalthan Sugar Brief Note/General Office/H.
