Gym - Catching & Throwing

Thoughts and reflections about your lesson…

We always get started a little later because of coming in from outside and especially when we are on
supervision.

How could you organize partners to avoid kids asking for trades, saying they don’t want to be with someone
else etc?

Great job prompting about the hallway and what to expect when they get to the gym.
I would be more explicit about safety just because of the kids trying to climb up the poles.
Reminding them about throwing the bean bags safely - not throwing them at the hoop when someone is picking
their bb’s up at the hoop! Some kids were hitting each other with them!

Bathroom - I always say yes because in grade one accidents happen!! This group is pretty great at not taking
advantage!

Excellent strategy to get the kids practicing throwing with the hoop on the floor and then in the air.

You were aware that the kids were a bit wild and not in the mind set to learn another new game. You can
always ask the kids how to play something…it’s a good experience for them to teach us and their peers (in
reference to Skittles Tag!

Rob the Nest - I think they did ok for the first time! They were stealing before the middle was taken and you
stopped them when you noticed they were not playing correctly.

At the end of the lesson you wrapped it up nicely with some positive points about their catching and throwing.

The gym is always a different situation :)
