• This short course is intended to develop manpower equipped with skills and knowledge
in principles and the practice of Occupational Health and Safety. It will provide skills to
professionals who will be involved in surveillance of occupational hazards and implement
interventions that will reduce occupational injuries and diseases in the workplace.
RATIONALE
• The course program aims to equip staff dealing with health and safety to improve the
workplace environment safety and health of workers. These participants will be invaluable
in identifying and controlling occupational hazards at the workplace and also provide an
understanding of the legal and legislative regimes that provide occupational health
protection for workers at work.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the short course the participants should be able to:
• Know the fundamental principles of occupation health
• Apply principles of health and safety management at place of work
• Implement Zambian health and safety regulations
• Align work practices to conform with ILO Conventions
• Assess loss causation and incident investigation
