W19- Methods of communication

The graph illustrates how people between 18 and 30 years old have changed their method
communication preference preference in communication methods from 1996 to 2016.

Around 72% of this age-group preferred to use landline, 15% liked to use mobile phones/apps
and the rest preferred social media communication in 1996. Then, people started to reduce
landline communication, while mobile phone/apps raised to almost 50% and social media
increased and reached the 20% of people preference in 2006.

The newest data registered in 2016 shows that social media and mobile phone/app preference
continue growing, being the last one communication method the latter being the most used
with almost 65% of favouritism. On the other hand, landline communication preference
continued its declining tendency.

To sum up, mobile phone/apps and social media communication preference increased along
the 20 years’ period analysed, but mobile phone/apps did it faster. However, landline
decreased ending with only almost 10% of people method communication preference.
Probably this percentage is even lower nowadays.
