IELTS Task 2: Using Phones In School

Some people believe that children should be banned from using their phones
during the school day. Others believe that children should be allowed to use
their phones.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Nowadays, phones are commonly used by students, including children. Some

On the one hand, a phone connected to the internet is a great source of

information. In some cases, children , especially, primary school students, take
part in a discussion. Phones can be utilized to search for knowledge relating to
their topic. In Vietnam, for example, phone are gradually applied to teaching so
that students do not have to count on teachers. Moreover, recognizing the
effectiveness of phones, a number of teachers encourage students to use
phones. As a result, those teachers can come up with more activities during class
in order to develop students' skills such as critical thinking. In addition to aiding
studying, phones play a part as a tool which helps parents keep in touch with their
children from distance. In any circumstances, children face urgent situations in
school, they can call their parents instantly.
On the negative side, experts indicate that letting children approach phones too
early can make them addicted to phones. They might be captivated by various
contents on the internet. Consequently, instead of enjoying physical activities in
breaktimes or intervals between classes, children are gravitated toward playing
mobile games. This subsequently leads to a sedentary life. Furthermore, the
increasing cases of eye sight problem are attributed to spending too much time
using phones.

As outline above, one could see the pros and cons of phone toward children.
Nevertheless, it is supposed that phones must be used in favor of children with
their studying and the downsides need minimizing simultaneously.
