This document is a reflection from a student named Patrick Kem John G. about their experience learning about event planning for traditional Philippine sports and games in their class. The reflection discusses how event planning involves budgeting, timelines, site selection, permits, food, transportation, themes, speakers, equipment, risk management, and contingencies. The student realized event planning requires significant work. As a BPED major, they feel event planning skills will be useful even though they do not plan to be an event planner. They believe their ability to budget and find savings would help them in event planning by allowing them to offer various options to clients based on different budgets. REFLECTION
Event planning is the process of managing a project such as
a meeting, convention, tradeshow, ceremony, team building activity, party, or convention. Event planning includes budgeting, establishing timelines, selecting and reserving the event sites, acquiring permits, planning food, coordinating transportation, developing a theme, arranging for activities, selecting speakers and keynotes, arranging for equipment and facilities, managing risk, and developing contingency plans.
In this term of this class I had to learn about the event
planning, deals with the traditional sports and game of the country. I knew that it took a lot to put together an event, but I had never fully realized how much actually goes into it. As a BPED major, event planning is a necessary skill to have even though I do not plan to become an event planner. If I had the option to start working in this industry tomorrow, there would be several things that would either help or hinder me. The first strength I would bring to the event planning industry is my ability to budget and manage money. With my personal finances, I am very strict about my spending habits, and I am constantly trying to find ways to save money. For example, I spent hours this past weekend researching the best deals on kitchen supplies for my house next fall. I made a spreadsheet of all of my options that fit the perfect 5 POINTS balance between price and quality along with dozens of promo codes that could apply, and it quite literally paid off. My ability to organize and manage my own money as well as to save money would be beneficial in the event planning industry. I would be able to offer my clients various options based on a wide variety of different budgets.
And to sum up everything that has been stated so far is that
I’m so very thankful that I learned this term in online learning on how to make an event program since sooner or later I become a Teacher in God’s grace I might handle school events to experience for my colleagues and students.
