SECTION E
Section E consists of 3 questions of 4 mark each.
36 Two sisters Kaashvi and Sona started a business together. They decided to
share their capitals depending upon the variable expenditure. The capital of
the two partners together is given by polynomial p(x) = 3x² + 14x + 8, which
is the product of their individual share factors.
Use the above information to answer the following questions:
(i) Find the total expenditure of Kaashvi and Sona, when x = 100 ( in ₹) . 1
(ii) Find the linear factors of the polynomial p(x). 2
OR
(ii) If x + 2 is the factor of x – 2ax + 16, then find the value of a.
3 2
(iii) Reema was a common friend who wanted to invest as a partner in their 1
business. Her capital is given by polynomial g(x) = x + 5. Find the new
capital.
37 BSE is stands for a disease called Bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
"Bovine" means that the disease affects cows, "spongiform" refers to the way
the brain from a sick cow looks spongy under a microscope, and
"encephalopathy" indicates that it is a disease of the brain. This disease is
commonly called mad cow disease.
A farmer has a field ABCD formed by two pair of parallel roads as shown
below in which l ∥ m and p ∥ q. His four cows were suffering from BSE. He
tied them at four corners of his field ABCD.
