3. Students must then conduct interviews with a few neighbours/friends
on the topic. For an interview, with the help of the teacher, students
need to frame questions based on the preliminary
research/background. The survey can be made through google forms
or through pen and paper.
4. Students will then write an essay/ write up / report etc. up to 1000
words (min 800 words) on his/her research and submit it. He / She
will then take a viva on the research project. The project can be done
individually or in pairs/ groups

Planning and Research for the Project Work

3. Team leader should approach the teacher with the project plan and
reports.
4. Students working individually or in pairs should also update the
teacher.
5. A logical, deliverable and practical plan should drafted by the team/
pair/individual. Goals/objectives must be clearly defined for all.
6. Work must be delegated to team members by the team leader.
7. Students wishing to work alone should develop their own plan of
Action.
8. Detailed project schedules must be shared with the teacher.

Leader/ individual student.
5. Students must conduct the survey and prepare the report.
6. The first draft of the report must be submitted on 21 st August 2023.

"Exploring the World of Fabrics: Properties, Uses, and Sustainable
Alternatives"
Objectives:
The aim of this investigatory project is to explore the fascinating world of
fabrics, their properties, and various uses in our daily lives. Additionally, this
project aims to raise awareness about sustainable alternatives to conventional
fabrics, highlighting the importance of eco-friendly choices.
This project provides an opportunity to understand different types of fabrics,
their characteristics, and their impact on the environment.
Methodology:
1. Research and gather information about different types of
fabrics(properties, how it is obtained and uses), including natural fibers
(cotton, silk, wool.) and synthetic fibers (Rayon, nylon polyester, acrylic
,elastomeric fibre ) in brief.
2. Collect fabric samples representing various types of fibre.
3. Investigate the environmental impact of conventional fabrics, particularly
synthetic fibers, and their contribution to microplastic pollution
4. Research sustainable fabric alternatives, such as organic cotton, bamboo
fabric, hemp fabric, and recycled fibers
5. Use sewing techniques to create simple projects using different fabric
types, showcasing their practical applications.
6. Submit the hardcopy and present the project findings to classmates

Expected Learning outcome:

The project is expected to provide students with a comprehensive
understanding of different fabric types, their properties, and uses. Students will
gain insights into the environmental impact of conventional fabrics and the
importance of sustainable alternatives.
