Research Agenda: Optimizing health resiliency with respect to disaster emergencies,

and emerging disease

Research Title: Impact of environmental factors on respiratory health among uclm

students.

Statement of the Problem: Respiratory health is a crucial aspect of overall well-being,

and students at the University of Cebu Lapu-lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) are exposed to
a variety of environmental factors that have the potential to impact their respiratory
health. These factors include air pollution, indoor air quality, and climate change.

Rationale:

The occurrence of 10-20 cases of flu-like symptoms per day among UCLM
students is alarming. While the cause of these symptoms is not yet known, it is possible
that environmental factors are playing a role. Air pollution, indoor air quality, and climate
change can all impact respiratory health, and they may be contributing to the high
number of flu-like symptoms among UCLM students. In addition to the potential impact
of environmental factors, it is also important to consider the possibility that the flu-like
symptoms among UCLM students are being caused by a new or emerging disease. The
COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the importance of being prepared for the
emergence of new diseases. This research will help to identify potential new or
emerging diseases that may be impacting the health of UCLM students. The findings of
this research can be used to develop interventions to reduce the impact of
environmental factors on respiratory health among UCLM students. In addition, the
findings of this research can be used to develop strategies for early detection and
response to new or emerging diseases. By understanding the impact of environmental
factors on respiratory health, nurses can develop interventions to help students protect
themselves from the negative effects of these factors. This can help to reduce the risk of
respiratory problems and improve the overall health and well-being of UCLM students.
