TRAINING POLICY
Company is determined to attract the best available seafarers and to ensure they receive all the necessary
training in order to do their jobs in the most professional manner and to make them fully understand the
meaning of safety and environmental excellence.
The Training Department is responsible for providing training to all seafarers serving on board the
Company’s vessels and office personnel.
Company has committed to all vessels and office personnel that they receive the proper training, have
their work performance reviewed in a consistent manner, and promoted when and if they are ready to
assume greater responsibilities.
Training needs of personnel are determined by shore-side training course grades, on board assessments by
senior officers and attending superintendents and upcoming national and international regulations.
Company believes that training beyond STCW certification is necessary in order to have a best class vessels
and office personnel.
Company takes into account when to determine the training program; company training policy, courses,
courses programs, the condition of training centers, standardized assessments of success, the selection of
seafarers and office personnel attending each course as practicable.
Pre-joining Training
Prior to employment, office personnel and seafarers attend an in-house Safety, Quality and Environmental
familiarization course that introduces them to the Company’s policies and procedures, operating principles
and guidelines, the importance of safety and Company business practices.
On Board Training
All seafarers joining Company vessels are required to undergo ship-specific familiarization. Elements of the
familiarization process must be performed:
• Prior to ship’s sailing;
• Prior to undertaking his shipboard duties;
In addition to ship-specific familiarization, there is a continuous onboard training process that includes:
• Vocational training;
• Safety training drills and safety meetings;
• Onboard training performed by Master, Senior Officers and Shore-Based Company staff.
Company Based Trainings
The Training Department assesses all training needs within the fleet for every individual vessel and for
office personnel as annually. The type of the course to be arranged is decided after these assessment and
course schedule and annual onboard training program is circulated within the fleet. In addition, the
trainings determined for the office personnel are also circulated to the office. Trainings are executed by
both in house and external training resources. The Company is committed to offering trainings related to
the new technologies and regulations as deemed favorable to vessel and office personnel. Company also
encourages and supports personnel taking higher education courses to improve their contribution to the
company and their possibilities for promotion within the organization.
Company continuously monitors the effectiveness of the trainings.
