Homonyms
Are two words which can have the same spelling or
pronunciation, but very different meanings.
The word homonym come from the prefix “homo” wich
means “the same” and the suffix “nym” wich means
“name”.

Example:
● Rock : A musical genre - A stone

● Mean: Average - Not nice

● Park: When a car stop somewhere - A place

● Bat: instrumental to hit a ball - nocturnal

Homophones
Are words that have different meaning Examples:

Homographs
Are two or more words that are spelled the
same but have different meanings and
origins.

Examples

● Minute - small or a unit of time.


● Crane - a bird or a machine used
at construction sites.
● Tear - to rip something or the
liquid that flows from the eyes
when crying.
