Tournament Rules
Chess Code FIDE Standard Rating (Open) Chess Tournament -2023 will be
played in Swiss system and will be governed by FIDE - the official laws of
chess (which were adopted at the 88th FIDE Congress at Goynuk, Antalya,
Turkey) coming into force on 1 January 2018)

Time Control

Playing session will start from 4:00 PM. Time control is: 90 minutes with 30
second increment from move 1.

Default Time

The default time is 30 minutes from the starting of the round.

Tie-Breaking
1. Direct Encounter (The results of the players in the same point group).
2. Buchholz Tie-Breaking.(The sum of the opponents score –lowest score of a
opponent)
3. Buchholz Tie-Breaking. (The sum of the opponents score)
4. Greater Number of Victories
5. Sonneborn-Berger. (The sum of the opponents scores of the opponents a
player has defeated and half the scores of the players with whom he has
drawn.)

 Some important Rules

(a) The players having the move is not allowed to leave the playing area without
permission of the Arbiter. During play the players are forbidden to make use of any
notes, sources of information or advice, or analysis on another chessboard.

(b) During a game, a player is forbidden to have a mobile phone, electronic means
of communication or any device capable of suggesting chess moves on their person
in the playing venue. However, he may allow such devices to be stored in a
player’s bag, as long as the device is completely switched off or submitted to
Arbiter. A player is forbidden to carry a bag holding such a device, without
permission of the arbiter. If it is evident that a player has such a device on their
person in the playing venue, the player shall lose the game. The opponent shall
win.
(C) Smoking is permitted only in the section of the venue designated by the
Arbiter.

(D) No spectators, only officials are allowed.

(E) No analysis after game.
