**Inspectors of Turns (SW 2.6.1):**


- *Responsibilities:* These inspectors are tasked with closely monitoring swimmers in their assigned
lane to ensure compliance with the relevant rules. They focus on rule adherence after the start of the
race, during each turn, and at the race's finish. The role of an Inspector of Turns is to maintain a fair
and regulated competition environment by ensuring that swimmers follow the rules at critical points
in the race.

**SW 2.6.2: Jurisdiction for the Inspector of Turns at the Start End**
- *Explanation:* The Inspector of Turns at the start end is responsible for monitoring swimmers from
the start signal until the completion of the first arm stroke. However, in Breaststroke, the monitoring
extends until the completion of the second arm stroke.

**SW 2.6.3: Jurisdiction for the Inspector of Turns for Each Turn**
- *Explanation:* The Inspector of Turns for each turn is in charge from the beginning of the last arm
stroke before touching the wall until the completion of the first arm stroke after the turn. In

record the number of laps completed by swimmers. They inform swimmers of the remaining laps by
displaying "lap cards" at the turning end, showing odd numbers. Electronic equipment, including
underwater displays, may be used.

**SW 2.6.7: Warning Signal for Remaining Distance in 800 and 1500-Meter Events**
- *Explanation:* The Inspector at the starting end gives a warning signal when a swimmer has two
lengths plus five meters remaining in individual events of 800 and 1500 meters. The signal may be
repeated after the turn until the swimmer reaches the five meters mark on the lane rope. The
warning signal can be a whistle or a bell.

**SW 2.6.8: Determining Contact in Relay Events**

swimmer is in contact with the starting platform when the preceding swimmer touches the starting
