LEARNING PLAN IN ARTS 7

At the end of the school year, the students of Grade 7 are expected to attain the following
standards for the Music.

PROGRAM Students in this Arts and Crafts of Luzon program will develop a strong
STANDARD foundation in traditional and contemporary artistic expressions, rooted in
the rich cultural heritage of Luzon. This program aims to foster creativity,
critical thinking, and cultural appreciation, empowering students to
become proficient artists and cultural advocates.
PERFORMANCE The learners should:
STANDARD FOR:  create artworks showing the characteristic elements of the arts of
First Grading Period Luzon (highlands and lowlands)
 exhibit completed artworks for appreciation and critiquing

THEMATIC FOCUS
FOR: Arts and Crafts of Luzon (Highlands and Lowlands)

CONTENT The learner should know:
STANDARD  art elements and processes by synthesizing and applying prior
knowledge and skills
 the salient features of the arts of Luzon (highlands and lowlands)
by showing the relationship of the elements of art and processes
among culturally diverse communities in the country
 3. the Philippines as having a rich artistic and cultural tradition from
precolonial to present times

At the end of the First Grading Period, as well as the succeeding ones, the students of Grade 7
are expected to strive to live up to the Mission Statement of the University of the East and develop
values and character expected of a Basic Education Student.

BASIC EDUCATION We, the dedicated Basic Education mentors, commit ourselves to the
VISION holistic development of individuals who are imbued with competence,
deep sense of nationalism, and are God-loving, service-oriented,
environment-friendly, and are primed for leadership in a just, progressive,
and humane society.

BASIC EDUCATION A UE-ESLS now Basic Education student practices: Uprightness of


CORE VALUES character, Excellence, Environment friendliness, Social responsibility,
Loyalty and integrity, Service orientedness.

After the lesson, the Grade 7 students are expected to perform the following competencies:

Competencies  analyze elements and principles of art in the production of one’s
for this lesson arts and crafts inspired by the arts of Luzon (highlands and
lowlands)
 identify characteristics of arts and crafts in specific areas in Luzon
(e.g., papier mâché [taka] from Paete, Ifugao wood sculptures
[bul’ul], Cordillera jewelry and pottery, tattoo, and Ilocos weaving
and pottery [burnay], etc.)
 reflect on and derive the mood, idea, or message emanating from
selected artifacts and art objects
 appreciate the artifacts and art objects in terms of their uses and
their distinct use of art elements and principles
 . incorporate the design, form, and spirit of the highland/lowland
artifact and object in one’s creation
 trace the external (foreign) and internal (indigenous) influences
reflected in the design of an artwork and in the making of a craft or
artifact
 create crafts that can be locally assembled with local materials,
guided by local traditional techniques (e.g., habi, lilip, etc).
 derive elements from traditions/history of a community for one’s
artwork
 shows the relationship of the development of crafts in specific
areas of the country, according to functionality, traditional
specialized expertise, and availability of resources (e.g. pottery,
weaving, jewelry, baskets)
 show the relationship of Luzon (highlands and lowlands) arts and
crafts to Philippine culture, traditions, and history (Islamic
influences, Spanish heritage, and American legacies in education,
business, modernization, and entertainment, as well as in
indigenous practices, fiestas, and religious and social practices)
 . mount an exhibit using completed Luzon (highlands and
lowlands)- inspired arts and crafts in an organized manner

region's geographical and historical complexity.

4. Sculptures (gods/rituals)
UNIFYING & VALUING: Synthesize/ Summarize / Meaningful Closure
At the end of the discussion, the students will already appreciate the
beauty and importance of the different types of Arts and Crafts of Luzon
(Highlands and Lowlands). After all the discussion I will leave them an
inspiring quote about the importance of Arts and crafts and how it can lead
them to a successful future.
