(i) Calculate the vapor pressure of the solution prepared by mixing 22.5 g of CHCl 3 and 40 g of
CH2Cl2 at 298 K
(ii) Mole fraction of each component in vapour phase.
14. Predict the products of electrolysis in each of the following.

15. The resistance of a conductivity cell containing 0.001 M KCl solution at 298K is 1500 ohm. What is

21. (i) What are pseudo first order reaction ? Explain the kinetic of acidic hydrolysis of ester .
(ii) In a first order reaction, the concentration of the reactant is reduced from 0.6 mol L -1 to 0.2 mol
L-1 in 5 minutes. Calculate the rate constant of the reaction.
22. A 4% solution (w/w) of sucrose (M = 342) in water has freezing point of 271.15 K. Calculate freezing
point of 5% glucose (M = 180 g mol-1) in water. (Given freezing point of pure water = 273.15 k)
23. Answer the following :
(a) Why Cu+ ion is not known in aqueous solution ?
(b) Why Ni+4 is more stable than Pt+2 where as Pt+4 is more stable than Ni+4.
(c) Explain the observation Zn, Cd and Hg are quite soft and have low melting point.

(b) Write the relation among the conductivity of a solution in the cell constant and the resistance of
solution in the cell.
(c) The molar conductivity of a 1.5 M solution of an electrolyte is found to be 138.9 S cm 2 mol-1.
What will the conductivity of this solution?
26. A solution containing 30 g of a non-volatile solute exactly in 90 g water has a vapour pressure of 2.8
K Pa at 298 K further, 18 g of water is then added to the solution and the new vapour pressure
becomes 2.9 K Pa at 298 K.
Calculate :
(i) molar mass of the solute. (ii) Vapour pressure of water at 298 K
27. 19.5 g of CH2FCOOH is dissolved in the 500 g of water the depression in the freezing point of water
observed is 1.00C calculate van't Hoff factor and dissociation constant of fluoroacetic acid.
