Answer:

The use of the internet

1. What use does the internet have for you? Explain in 3-5 sentences.

- Certainly, the internet offers a wide range of benefits and uses for students like me, making it an
invaluable tool for education. The findings in the study of Ternege & Fanafa, (2019) reveals one
key use of the internet for students, which is accessing electronic information resources like
online libraries, databases, academic journals, and websites for research, assignments, and
general knowledge. These resources include e-books, articles, video lectures, and interactive
learning platforms, which I often use, facilitate self-study and comprehension of complex
concepts. Similar to physical libraries, browsing is an effective way to access materials in a
digital library because the classification system and the "space" in a digital library are integrated
(The Role of Digital Libraries in Teaching and Learning, n.d. & study online, 2023, Pomerantz &
Marchionini, 2007), as a result, browsing can significantly cut down the time it takes to find and
access resource and I can access online libraries at any time, day or night, which is especially
valuable sometimes if I’m working on projects with tight deadlines. In addition, beyond
academics, internet also offers resources for personal development, including motivational
content, self-help articles, and life skills advice, as mentioned in studies by Martin et al. (2021)
and DO-IT (2020). This is indeed essential as I pursue self development and personal growth
which I found important aside from academic achievement.

- As a political science student with a lot of reading and writing assignments, I used Notion and
Grammarly to help me organize my tasks, monitor my progress, and make the most of my time. I
used Notion to keep track of the reading and writing assignments, schedule my tasks (research
and case studies), and be reminded of deadlines. I used Grammarly to check my grammar, which
is important when writing research papers and cases. According to the research of (Auld, 2023
& Ahmad 2019), students can only succeed if they have the ability to manage their time
effectively because time management and productivity apps are made to help people balance
their other responsibilities while also increasing their efficiency and effectiveness. Students can
also remain on top of their obligations by receiving alerts via email or on their devices (Balikçi,
2021), which aids in setting specific goals, such as completing a research paper or studying for a
certain number of hours each day, hence, these apps allow me to break down goals into smaller,
manageable tasks.
