Bollywood Romanticism
Bollywood Romanticism
In the 1930s and 1940s, romantic films became more popular in Bollywood, and
they were often melodramatic in nature. The films typically portrayed a hero
who was a charismatic and charming young man, and a heroine who was a
beautiful and virtuous young woman.
The 1950s and 1960s are often considered the "golden era" of
Bollywood romances. During this time, filmmakers like Raj
Kapoor, Guru Dutt, and Bimal Roy created some of the most iconic
romantic films in Indian cinema history. The films of this era
featured soulful music and memorable performances by
legendary actors like Dev Anand, Raj Kapoor, and Dilip Kumar.
