IELTS Band Scoring Pattern

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) uses a nine-band scale to assess the
English language proficiency of non-native speakers. This scale ranges from 0 to 9, with each band
representing a specific level of proficiency in the language.

Whereas a score of 1 indicates a non-competency, user's a score of 9 demonstrates a user's
expertise. Moreover, candidates may receive a score of 0, which signifies that they either did not
attempt the test or did not supply any useful information.

For writing and speaking modules, we recommend students practice as much as possible. We have
stated some basic strategies, tips and tricks that will help you score a good band in writing and
speaking modules.

Pre-Requisites

Let's look at how to register for IELTS general examinations before we begin the course.

Use net banking and debit/credit cards to effortlessly register online and make payments.
IELTS test registrations can be done digitally over the online platform or offline by visiting the
local IDP branch.

Registration Process

The procedure is as follows:

Visit the IELTS website


Choose "Register for IELTS" from the menu
Choose the exam type you prefer: paper-based or computer-delivered IELTS (IELTS, IELTS for
UKVI or Life Skills).
IELTS for UKVI, General or General Training, IELTS for IELTS, A1 and B1 for Life Skills—choose
your exam type or module (be extremely careful while choosing the module you wish to take).
Choose the city or place where you want to take the test (from the available IELTS test centers).
After you're finished, a list of dates that fit your selections will be displayed. Choose the time
and date that work best for you.
Complete your online application by filling out the necessary information. To finish the
procedure, keep in mind that you must also provide a clear, colored copy of your passport.
Continue by paying the test cost
You will get a confirmation on your registered phone number or email once your test date is
reserved.
If you would rather not register online, you may do so in person at the IDP IELTS branch or
referral partner that is most convenient for you.
The front and back pages of your passport photocopy, together with a declaration form that has
been signed and stamped, are essential documents at the time of registration.

Points to Remember

You will receive the study material within 7 working days of registering for your exam.
Students are recommended to register for the exams as soon as possible, so that they may
receive the study materials on time if they want to succeed in this course.
The study guide provided by IELTS includes four practice exams.
In addition to the study materials, you will get after registering, you can visit the IDP center to
obtain previous printings of the books that can assist in your practice.
