What are adverbs of manner?

✔ Adverbs of manner (adverbios de modo) son palabras invariables que

modifican a verbos, adjetivos y a otros adverbios. Indican de qué manera
ocurre, se desarrolla o realiza una acción. (¿Cómo piensa, vive, trabaja, …?)

✔ En general, los adverbios de modo se construyen a partir de un adjetivo

añadiendo el sufijo -ly (mente) al final de la palabra.

✔ Soft (suave) – softly (suavemente) , quick (rápido) - quickly (rápidamente).

beautifully = bellamente, truthfully = honestamente.

✔ También se puede usar la frase “de modo/manera + adj.”: beautifully = de

modo/manera bella, rapidly = de modo/manera rápida, truthfully = de
modo/manera honesta.

✔ Sin embargo, según la terminación final del adjetivo debemos tener en cuenta una serie de normas
para poder escribirlo correctamente.

✔ Los adverbios de modo se colocan generalmente después del verbo: He plays beautifully.

✔ Sin embargo, también pueden ir después del objeto: He plays the flute beautifully.;
He ate the chocolate slowly.

✔ Antes del verbo si este tiene objeto: The teacher patiently listened the group opinión.

✔ Al principio de la oración, en este ubicación, los adverbios de modo le dan un tono poético. En la
vida real, es muy poco común este orden. Noisily they ate their snacks. Comieron sus refrigerios
ruidosamente.

✔ Algunos adverbios no cambian de forma: hard=hard, late=late, straight=straight
