The responsibility shared in

work which requires
strength or work related to
electronic appliances such
as fixing a blub or repairing
something is done by the

brother/sister treated at home

in terms on traditional gender
roles?
Keeping the traditional gender role in mind
I must say that I and my sister are treated
with leniency and are allowed to do almost
whatever we want such as go out with
friends, we are given the ability to choose
whatever we want to do in our future and
our not pressurized by our parents into
pursuing a specific profession but there are
still some things which I am allowed to do
whereas she isn’t such as I am allowed to
go out with my friends without anyone’s
supervision but she is only allowed to go
out with her friends if an elder is with them
this could be due to her age as she is
younger and most probably in future
would be allowed to go alone as she would
be more mature.

Q5: what do you think, difference does it make

to be a female/male member of the family in
your society

In my opinion previously our society was a patriarchal

society and gender made a huge difference in what
activities an individual can do such as in our Pakistani
society girls/female were expected to be housewife and
serve their husbands and do the household chores whereas
men were expected to be the breadwinner of the family
and the one who fulfills the need of the family. In our
society girls were expected to stay inside the house and are
not allowed to go out past 7 pm whereas the men of the
family can do whatever they want and no one cares if they
come home late in Pakistan there are many incidents
reported in which baby girls have been killed as they
wanted a baby boy and considered a girl as a burden. This
type of ideology nowadays has started to decline for egg in
my household girls and boys are treated equally and have
the same rights as each other. And another example of
women being given equal rights as men are that their
education is also being prioritized they are also being given
education whereas previously they didnt receive education
as people consider that it’s not worth educating the women
as in the end they just have to become a housewife and
serve their husband but this ideology has almost Declined
now. as women are being considered equal as man and are
equal part of our society.
