Hot plate stirrer Calibration SOP

1.0 OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the calibration procedure of Hot plate stirrer to provide a system to calibrate,
control and maintain the equipment used for inspection measuring and test equipment in order to
ensure the correctness of measurement and test status.
2.0 SCOPE:
This shall be applicable to the Hot plate stirrer of Quality Control Instrument Laboratory.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1 Technical Assistant/ Helper.
3.2 Q.C Analyst.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1 Manager-Quality Control.
5.0 MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT:
5.1 Hot plate stirrer.
5.2 Calibrated thermometer.
6.0 PROCEDURE:
6.1 Firstly clean the Hot plate stirrer, according to SOP.
6.2 Operate the Magnetic stirrer and hot plate, according to SOP.
6.3 Calibration of temperature:
6.3.1 Start the calibration procedure by using calibrated thermometer ranging up to 300oC.
6.3.2 Place the beaker or flask containing sample in the mid most of hot plate stirrer.
6.3.3 Operate only hot plate without using magnetic stirrer.
6.3.4 Set temperature of the hot plate by temperature regulator.
6.3.5 Dip calibrated thermometer at one side of the beaker.
6.3.6 Record both control panel temperature display and calibrated thermometer temperature.
6.3.7 Record the result in annexure-1.
6.3.8 Similarly, repeat the procedure at different temperature. And record the temperature.
6.4 Record the result on the “Calibration Record”, “Calibration Log Book” & paste
the “Calibration Status Sticker” on Hot plate stirrer.
6.5 Frequency:
6.5.1 Once in a month.
