* Purposes of this assignment – After completing the assignment, students will be able to:
1. Understand fundamental business concepts in managerial work,
2. Describe the key functional areas of a business to administer and develop effective business
solutions,
3. Apply knowledge of the broader business environment to make effective business decisions by
assessing the impacts of key environmental factors, and
4. Describe the legal requirements, ethical standards, and social responsibilities that apply to
business administration and operations.

* Proportion of the final assignment: 50%


* Grade has to be above 4.0. Otherwise, students will be disqualified for passing the course.
* Coursework type: A teamwork report paper is required, and students must submit their final report
directly to the LCMS by the assigned due date.

Scenario

* To complete the final assignment, students need to work in teams of 2-4 members, and each team
is required to provide a brief introduction about the course and specific business aspects that they are
most interested in when studying in class sessions. Students has to choose an organization with
which they are familiar, either the one where they currently work, a previous employer or either one
for which they have access to the required information. Each team should use this organization (and
the industry in which it operates) as the example as instructed.

Task 1: Apply what student gains from the course to a practical business
- Students choose an organization and provide an introduction about it, identifying the legal
structure (public company, private company, voluntary, charity, public sector, etc.) as well as an
outline of its operations and main objectives, together with all existing functional departments.
A description of the market structure in which the organization operates is required.

Task 2: Complete a PESTLE-based macro-environmental analysis of the selected


organization.
- Students are required to conduct a macro-environmental analysis using PESTLE elements, and
describe both positive and negative impacts of these macro factors have upon the practical
business operations.

Task 3: Conduct an internal and external analysis of the selected organizations in order to
determine its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
- Students are required to work on the organizational SWOT matrix, and then discuss the impact
of its competitive behaviour using Porter's Five-Force model.

Task 4: Describe the core values, ethical standards and corporate social responsibility that
are used in practical business operations.
- Student describe the selected organization’s core values, ethical standards, and basic
principles of corporate social responsibility, and discuss how the organization modifies its
management and administrative perspective to meet these requirements.

* The final assignment paper addresses the following tasks in accordance with Rubric 14 in

the syllabus:

Specific guidelines for students:


- A teamwork comprehensive report
- Deadline: assigned by the instructor (within week # 12)
- Submission format: Using the information described above, each team will create their final
business environment report in MSWord and upload it to the LCMS. The following are the
directions for designing and working on the final paper:
 A formatted-essay report paper with brief introduction, development and conclusion
 Academic references in line with the APA referencing and writing style, as well as a cover
page, as instructed by NIIE
 Length of the report: 4,500 words maximum, no minimum required
 The report will be formatted in a MS Word, 1-inch margin, 12-point font, Times New Roman
and double-spaced paper.

* NOTES TO STUDENTS FOR FINAL PROJECT SUBMISSION

 Check the submission deadline and the assignment instructions carefully. Late papers will be
rejected.
 Do not put things off till the last minute; such excuses will not be acceptable for failing to turn
in work on time.
 Students must accept accountability for efficiently managing their own time.
 Take special care that students properly cite other people’s work or ideas in their text and any
bibliography if they use other work or ideas in their assignment paper.

exception of any marked up quotations that clearly differentiate what has been quoted from the
student’s own work. All references must be reported, separated by APA formatting. Students who are
