____________________. We have _________________ of the lining of the gut. The lining

of the gut is only _____ cell thick. This results in nutrient ______________________.

7. Leaky gut creates an immune response, which leads to GI issues and multiple

_______ _______________. So you could be eating healthy, but some of the foods that

you're eating, your immune system could be ______________. That leads to

________________ and _________________ _____________, and that leads to more

inflammation.

8. What causes leaky gut in the first place? ______________ __________, ________,

___________ ____________, _________________, ______________. What do all these things

have in common? They all have _____________ components to them.

9. Stress is another thing that causes leaky gut. Three types of stress: ___________,

QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION:

How has COVID and the pandemic impacted you? What steps are you

prepared to take to heal yourself and protect yourself going forward?

Dr. King mentions our individual “check engine” lights in our body. Which

“check engine” lights are lit on your health dashboard? What further testing do

you need to get to the bottom of why these lights are on?

Dr. King’s father received a devastating diagnosis, and he believes the medical

system failed. Have you ever felt that the traditional medical system has failed

you or a loved one? How? Now that you are armed with more knowledge, how

will you be a part of changing outcomes going forward?

Dr. King talked about physical, emotional, and chemical stressors to the body.

What are your greatest stressors? How are they playing out in your life? Do you

believe that COVID or another virus has made your situation worse, or did it

just shine a light on an underlying problem?

How do you feel about Medicare and insurance companies dictating what is

medically necessary and therefore payable? What are some options for fixing

or getting around this system? How would your life be different if you focused

on prevention and quality of life instead?

Gandhi says, "It is health that is true wealth, and not pieces of gold and silver."

We can have all the gold and silver. We can have all the wealth in the world,

but as soon as we don't have our health, what is the use? What things,

relationships, and activities in your life will you start enjoying again when you

get your health back?

Episode 2
YOUR RPH LEVELS & YOUR OUT OF CONTROL
IMMUNE SYSTEM

In this episode, Dr. King does a deep dive into what causes the immune system
to get out of control. As you watch and follow along, fill in the blanks to make
sure you catch all the major points he discusses:

1. Your personal RPH score is your rate of perceived ____________, and the pivotal

question is how do you feel on a scale of one to _______?

2. The __________ gland and __________ are like filters for the lymph, grabbing

substances that don't belong there. One of the most important parts of

immune function is the gut, with over _______% of your immune system living

there. This system is designed to fight ________________, neutralize

______________ substances, and fight non-infectious ________________.

3. An important take-home point is that your good ______________ is essential to

gut function.

______ _______________.

13. It is also important to check the adrenals. Fatigue and an out-of-balance body

could be due to adrenal _______________________________.

QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION:

What would you estimate your RPH score is right now? What steps are you

willing to take to get it higher? How close to 100 do you believe you can get?

difference would it make to your health to have this information?

Episode 3
6 THINGS DOCTORS AREN’T TELLING YOU ABOUT GETTING
“BACK TO 100” (#4 IS BAD)

Welcome to Episode 3! Follow along with today’s presentation as Dr. King

exposes crucial facts about what doctors are not telling you:

1. Dr. King opens this episode by saying: “Your greatest asset is your

______________, but also ________________. I find so many people are trying to get

their health back, but because they don't really have the knowledge to do so,

they feel ________________. Whether they're dependent on

______________________ or dependent on their ______________ – because they

don't really have the knowledge, and they don't have the information.”

2. Traditionally doctors were taught a lot about ____________________________, but

very little about __________________.

3. The average time that a doctor spends interacting with a patient is __________

minutes. There is simply not enough time for in-depth and personalized care.

Dr. King makes the case that while most doctors likely have your best interest

at heart, they are not equipped to _______________ and ________________ you.

4. Point number one that doctors aren’t telling you is that the healthcare system is

____________. Our current system focuses on treating ________________ and not the

____________ cause. Additionally, medical school curriculum is largely funded by

_____________________________ companies which leads to medical training that is

skewed to benefit those companies.

5. Point number two is that __________________________________ is a must for

optimal health. This is needed because ___________________ can build up in your

body more quickly than you can get rid of them. The ______________________ is a

very valuable tool for determining your toxic load because it tests for about

_________ different toxic chemicals. The ________________ is the number one

detoxification organ in the body.

6. Point three that your doctor isn’t telling you is the best information about

_______________________. The purpose of the food we eat is to sustain life, provide

energy, and promote the ______________ and _______________ of tissues. When it

comes to nutrition, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. It's not about following a

specific ___________, but instead determining an individual’s eating

___________________ best suited for their lifestyle and personal health needs.

7. Point number four is that _________________ can be

harmful. It is important, but can also be

__________________ to the body and can potentially

damage _______________. Gentle movement and

stretching is a beneficial way to start for those

struggling with underlying inflammation.

8. Point five: ___________________ balance is essential. Hormones are how your body

communicates within itself, and they control every single function in the body.

Important hormones are more than just ___________________ and

__________________________________. Adrenals are also extremely important because

they are keys to energy levels and ________________ loss. Our thyroid influences

immunity and is at the root of ________________________________ conditions.

9. Point number six is the importance of the right _______________. It determines or

influences our decisions about what we ___________, how much we

________________, and our ________________ levels. Your mindset is a key factor that

allows you to take control over your own _________________.

10. It is important to stay ________________ because this will affect _________________,

and will aid in you experiencing less _____________ and developing greater

_____________________ to disease.

QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION

What are some areas you believe that you need to grow your knowledge in

order to make the best healthcare decisions for yourself and your loved ones?

What experiences from your own medical history support the idea that the

healthcare system is broken?

Dr. King mentioned numerous toxins that can cause disease (pollution,

herbicides, cleaning products, heavy metals, and many more). Which toxins

were you not aware of? Which do you think may be causing problems for you,

and how can you get to the root of and treat the problem?

What foods do you know or suspect may bother you or work against your

health? What might your eating strategy look like, and how will you feel when

you incorporate it into your wellness plan?

What exercise do you believe might be right for you at this time? Are you

underdoing it or overdoing it? Do you have long-term problems from

overdoing it in the past?

What are hormone imbalances doing to your body? What will your body look

and feel like when this problem is addressed?

Describe your personal health and wellness mindset. Is it serving you or

holding you back? How? (Note: Just the fact that you have invested your time

and energy into this docuseries means that you are developing a proactive

mindset – pat yourself on the back!)

Do you feel that a health coach would serve a valuable role to help you walk

through these six important points and make needed changes? What would

personalizing these six points look like for you?

Episode 4
THE 3 BIGGEST MISTAKES
THAT KEEP YOU SICK, TIRED, AND RUN DOWN

Are you unknowingly making mistakes that are sabotaging your wellness?
Follow along and fill in the key ideas that Dr. King shares in Episode 4:

1. The first mistake that we tend to make is getting into unhealthy

________________________, but if we want something different, we have to do

something different. People can make these mistakes because they’ve actually

been _________________ to do so.

2. Dr. King states, “the number one mistake that I feel that doctors are doing that

keeps people stuck is treating the __________________ and not addressing the

________ cause.”

3. Fatigue is a common symptom that people experience and have trouble

getting to the root cause. List some of the possible causes of fatigue that Dr.

King discusses:

_______________________________________________________________________________

_____________________________________________________________

4. There is a lot of __________________ when it comes to root causes because

everything in the body is connected. That is why we need to take a

____________________ approach.
5. Another big mistake that we make in addressing illness or disease is not

addressing the _________. If we're not digesting properly, we're not absorbing

___________________ efficiently. This can lead to a __________ _______________________,

which means our body won’t have the tools to be able to heal.

6. The microbiota is the ____________________ of your gut and is comprised of good

________________. The protective lining of the gut is called the ______________ and is

our first line of immune defense. The condition of an overgrowth of bad bacteria is

called _______________.

7. Dysbiosis can be caused by antibiotics and dietary choices. Other causes Dr.

King mentions include:

__________________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

8. Another term for “leaky gut syndrome” is intestinal _______________________. This

leads to nutrient ________________________ and activates immune responses.

9. Leaky gut allows ______________ to get into the bloodstream. Your immune

system can attack the _______________ that you're eating, even if it's healthy. These

toxins and immune responses can even affect the ________________.

10. Stress can also affect the gut. The three primary kinds of stress are

_________________, ________________, and _____________________________.

11. The third most common mistake made is that we don’t get proper

_________________, which helps us to know what’s going on instead of

____________________________.
12. Dr. King explained the value of stool testing. What are some issues this testing

could help to pinpoint? List as many as you can remember:

__________________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION

What patterns and habits are impacting your health the most? Were there any
presented in this episode that you weren’t aware of? If so, which ones?

Can you think of some examples from your own experience when you have
focused on treating symptoms instead of what was causing the illness or
disease? List some, and list the symptoms you tend to target.

How much do you know about the condition of your gut? What symptoms are
you experiencing that might be related to gut problems?

How often have you taken antibiotics in the past? What have you learned
about their effect on the gut, and how can you address those effects?
Do you have any food intolerances? Explain your understanding of how these

can be related to poor gut health.

How can proper testing help you to get to the root of your issues? Describe a

time when a lack of testing or improper testing has failed you in the past.
Episode 5
ADVANCED HOLISTIC TOOLS & TECHNIQUES
FOR SWIFT RECOVERY

In this episode, Dr. King shows us how to put together a plan and implement real
solutions. Fill in the blanks as you follow along:

1. Dr. King shares this quote from Thomas Edison: “The doctor of the future will

give no _______________, but will interest his patients in the care of the human

frame, in _________ and in the _____________ and ________________ of disease.”

2. Dr. King explains that a take-home point from this presentation, and a

foundational principle of functional medicine, is that whatever

symptoms you're having, whatever you're going through, it just didn't

“______ ____ ___ ____________” happen to you.

3. When it comes to your healing process, probably one of the biggest

mistakes that people are making is they're trying to do this on their

________. There's specialized ______________,_______________, and

________________ that you must get help putting together.

4. The first step in healing is to truly identify the _________ ____________ of

your health struggle. This is done through __________________.

5. How does Dr. King describe the functional medicine approach?

__________________________________________________________________________

__________________________________________________________________________
6. One problem with lab testing that your regular doctor orders is that it compares

you to people who are __________________ and _____________. Those tests do not

show you the ________________ ranges.

7. One important functional medicine test is _________________ acid testing. This

tests the organic materials that are byproducts of the __________________ activity

that goes on inside each cell. It allows the measurement of how well your

__________________ are functioning and to check the ___________________ between

dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin.

8. Some other functional medicine tests Dr. King discusses include:

__________________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

9. Every program that Dr. King designs is structured around ____________

essentials. The very first thing that we want to do to create a clean foundation is

the ___________________________ process that focuses on the liver.

10. The next essential process is ___________________. There is no “one-size-fits-all”

approach because a nutrition strategy should be ______________________.

11. The next essential is ____________________. It is important to reduce

________________________ before beginning an exercise program, and the program

should focus on building ___________________.

12. It is important to achieve _________________ balance. No matter what you are

doing right, you will not get back to health if hormones are out of

_____________________.

13. The most important essential is ________________________. Your mentor should

be trained in ___________________ medicine and be able to guide you in

determining the underlying _____________ of your issues. They need to help you

create a unique plan that is right for you and to _______________ and ____________

you.

14. The last thing is you want to make sure that there is a ________________ that is

going to include everything that you need. It has to be ________________________ to

you and all-inclusive.

15. Can Dr. King help everyone? The answer is _______. Most importantly, he says

that he can't help the person that's not willing to be an _________________

participant in their own rescue. Can he help you?

QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION

How is Edison’s “doctor of the future” different from the doctors you have been

to in your lifetime?

If your current health struggles didn’t happen to you “all of a sudden”, what

factors have been building up over time to make you sick?

Describe a time when you knew there was a problem, but the doctor
dismissed you because your lab results were “within normal range.” How
might your outcome have been different if you were going to a functional
medicine doctor?

Now that you’ve learned about functional medicine testing protocols, what
important information do you believe doctors have missed in the past about
your health issues?

Dr. King shares the journeys of health restoration of a few clients he’s worked
with. If he shared your story, what would it be? How can you picture your story
ending if you follow the functional medicine path?

Can you see the value in having a mentor to guide you through your health
journey? What might that look like for you, and how will it improve your
outcomes?
