Well, from a young age, Anne was immersed in the world

of storytelling. Her parents nurtured her curiosity by
exposing her to lots of various forms of art growing up,
including theatre.
When she was younger, she attended a production of
Shakespeare’s play, she mentioned that it was a
transformative experience for her, just witnessing the

and connect people, she mentioned that it created a
passion within her and that was the turning point for
her and that that was the moment she knew that theatre

Anne’s approach to theatre, known as the ‘’Viewpoints’’
Technique, is celebrated for its uniqueness and impact.
Could you explain to me what the ‘’Viewpoints’’
technique entails and how it influences your work?

The viewpoints technique is a collaborative and physical

approach to creating theatre. It focuses on the
fundamental elements of performance, such as time,
space, shape, gesture, and movement. By utilizing these
viewpoints, actors and performers can explore and
develop their physical presence on stage. It emphasizes
presence, responsiveness, and connection with an
ensemble. With the Viewpoints technique, Anne aims to
create theatre that is dynamic and engages both the
performers and the audience.

In my work, the Viewpoints technique has had a profound

influence on my creative process. I have been able to embody
my characters in a more authentic way which adds layers of
depth and complexity.
The spatial awareness aspect of the Viewpoints technique has
also influenced my work in terms of staging and blocking. I
have become more conscious of the physical relationships
between characters and the use of space on stage.
Through the exploration of the Viewpoints categories, I have
been able to create more interesting and impactful
performances for both me and the audience.

In my work, the Viewpoints technique has had a profound

influence on my creative process.
Anne’s contribution to the theatre world has been
remarkable, What impact do you believe theatre has on
society, and why is it relevant in today’s world?

I believe theatre holds a lot of significance in our society,

especially in an increasingly digital and disconnected world.
It provides a unique space for storytelling and collective
dialogue. Theatre allows us to delve into the complexities of
the human experience, challenge societal norms, and spark
critical conversations. It serves as a mirror, reflecting our
shared humanity and inviting us to engage with perspectives
different from our own. In a time when division seems to
prevail, theatre has the power to foster understanding and
unity.

Lastly, what advice do you have for aspiring theatre directors

or artists who seek to make a meaningful impact in the
industry?

My advice would be to approach your craft with curiosity, an

open mind, and a deep commitment. Embrace collaboration and
surround yourself with diverse voices and perspectives. Don't
be afraid to take risks and challenge society. Remember that
theatre is fundamentally a collaborative art form, and success
lies in creating an inclusive space for all voices to be
heard. Stay true to yourself, nurture your passion, and
continue to push the boundaries of theatre to create
transformative experiences for yourself and others.
