What Is System?
 The word System is derived from Greek word Systema, which means an
organized relationship between any set of components to achieve some
common cause or objective.
 System is a set of components that interact with one another to get central
goal.
 Everything in the world works in a system.
 System has:
 Components - element of that system .
 Interaction - among the component
 Central goal – defines the purpose
 Components of system are : Input , Output ,Process.

What Is System Analysis?

 Systems analysis is the process by which an individual (s) studies a
system such that an information system can be analyzed, modeled, and a
logical alternative can be chosen.
 Systems analysis projects are initiated for three reasons: problems,
opportunities, and directives
 System Analysis is a process of collecting and interpreting facts,
identifying the problems, and decomposition of a system into its
components.

 System analysis is conducted for the purpose of studying a system or its

parts in order to identify its objectives. It is a problem solving technique
that improves the system and ensures that all the components of the
system work efficiently to accomplish their purpose.
 Analysis specifies what the system should do.

What Is System Design?

 It is a process of planning a new business system or replacing an existing
system by defining its components or modules to satisfy the specific
requirements. Before planning, you need to understand the old system
thoroughly and determine how computers can best be used in order to
operate efficiently.
 The goal of system design is to allocate the requirements of a large
system to hardware and software components. The system design activity
starts after the system requirements analysis has been completed.
 System Design focuses on how to accomplish the objective of the
system.

What Is System Analysis And Design?

 System analysis and design deal with planning the development of
information systems through understanding and specifying in detail what
a system should do and how the components of the system should be
implemented and work together.

 System analysis and design is a process that many companies use to

evaluate particular business situations and develop ways to improve them
through more optimal methods.

 Analyzes the business needs and integrates technology into the

organization by designing and utilizing models and methodologies to
simulate deployment.
 Compares and contrasts characteristics and challenges in “new” systems
adopted by the organization.
 Identifies and uses modeling and simulation approaches/tools (e.g.,
dynamics modeling, cost benefit analysis, costing, forecasting, sourcing
models —build or buy) to make decisions.

What Is Input ,Output and Boundary?

 Input-output analysis is “a technique used in economics for tracing
resources and products within an economy. The system of producers and
consumers is divided into different branches, which are defined in terms
of the resources they require as inputs and what they produce as outputs.

 The main aim of a system is to produce an output which is useful for its
user.
 Output is the outcome of processing.
 Inputs are the information that enters into the system for processing.
 The design of output is the most important task of any system. During
output design, developers identify the type of outputs needed, and
consider the necessary output controls and prototype report layouts.
 In an information system, input is the raw data that is processed to
produce output. During the input design, the developers must consider
the input devices such as PC, MICR, OMR, etc. Therefore, the quality of
system input determines the quality of system output.
 A system should be defined by its boundaries.
 Boundaries are the limits that identify its components, processes, and
interrelationship when it interfaces with another system.
 Each system has boundaries that determine its sphere of influence and
control.
 The knowledge of the boundaries of a given system is crucial in
determining the nature of its interface with other systems for successful
design.
 The system boundary is a conceptual line that divides the system that
you want to study from 'everything else'.
