Asalam alykum, I would like to share some of my tips about IELTS writing and how I

improved my score from 5.5 to 7.5 after a short period of time. Firstly, the writing is the
most difficult task for the overwhelming majority of IELTS takers, surprisingly, the
percentage of British people who got score 7 is only 40% according the British council's
statistics. Secondly, other IELTS tasks can be performed very well by chance except writing
that needs a lot of work. The most important pivotal advice for IELTS takers to improve
overall score is the extensive reading. What I mean by this is that you should read as much as
you can and be familiar with wide varieties of vocabularies and idioms. Undoubtedly, this
way will enhance your overall English. By way of illustration, you should read the
newspapers and novels every day, read one hour without translation and try to understand the
whole paragraph from the context. For me the best two newspapers are the Guardians and
the Independent, download interesting articles or read directly from the website, then try to
rewrite some of sentences that you like for example “Oil consumption in Europe and Japan fell in
2014, as governments struggled to fix long-rumbling economic problems” I copied this sentence from the
Guardians. Another very crucial point is that you should know the followings:
1. Grammar: the most important point is to have bases on grammar like, how to use
present, past and future simple and perfect, how to use the articles, the conditional,
inversions, prepositions, modals, active and passive verbs and so on. My favourite
sites were:
http://www.englishpage.com/verbpage/verbtenseintro.html
And
http://www.engvid.com/english-videos/

These 2 sites will show you how to learn many things about the grammar that you
need. Another 2 sources that you needs are 2 books:

IELTS Cambridge grammar book

And

You can choose one or both of them.

2. Spelling : you need to check your spelling mistakes and rewrite them and use different
colour pen to show where you get the mistakes e.g
Substetution = Substitution (here I use red pen to write the mistaken letter.
Advice don’t use Microsoft office or any programme to write your essay, you need to
use paper and pen or pencil.
3. The skeleton of writing: you should know the components of each essay. The
introduction, 2 paragraphs and the conclusion. The task one and two skeleton need
either a tutor or site or video to teach you how to write them properly. You can look at
my onedrive free ielts course on writing section, but I advise not to follow his
introduction and conclusion strategies. You can also read Simon writing task1 and 2 in
my onedrive folder and you can watch his videos here. You can find the link in the
end of this report.

4. Practice: now it is the time to practice writing essays. You need to write 2-3 essays
every day and you should find someone to correct them for you with explanation or to
highlight under the mistakes and you correct yourself. You need to practice first
without timing then when you master your writing start to time yourself.

5. Writing books: I really love book called improve your writing. You can find it in my
drive.
I am sorry if it’s short report but my plab test is soon. Don’t forget me from your Duaa.
