One hundred twenty units of end item Z are needed at the beginning of week 7. Prepare a material
requirements plan for component C. Take into account that on hand there are 40 units of Z, 70 units of
A, 100 units of B, and 30 units of C. Also, there is a scheduled receipt of 20 units of component C in
week 4. Lead times are two weeks for Z and B, and one week for the other components. Lotfor-lot
ordering will be used for all ítems
The gross requirement for item E is 95 Units, However, 5 units are in hand,
thus, only (95-5) = 90 units will be required for E in week 7. Now, because
the lead time for releasing the order is 2 weeks, the order is released in
week 5.

For one unit of E, 3 units of B are required. Thus, for 90 units of net
requirement of E, (90 * 3) = 270 units of B would be required. Now, 50 units
of B are already available in hand and therefore, (270 – 50) = 220 units
would be the net requirement for item B which would be released one weak
prior to the planned receipt as the lead time is of 1 week.

For one unit of E, 2 units of C are required. Thus, for 90 units of net
requirement of E, (90 * 2) = 180 units of C would be required. Now, 100
units of C are already available in hand and 30 units are scheduled to be
received in week 4, therefore, (180 – 100 – 30) = 50 units would be the net
requirement for item C which would be released 2 weak prior to the
planned receipt as the lead time is of 2 week.

For one unit of B and C, 2 units of D are required. Thus, for 220 units of net
requirement of B, (220 * 2) = 440 units of D would be required and for 50
units of net requirement of C, (50 * 2) = 100 units of D would be required.
Hence, the total requirement of D would be 440 + 100 = 540 Units. Now, 80
units of D are already available in hand and therefore, (540 – 80) = 460
units would be the net requirement for item D. Item D can be ordered in
multiples of 40 and therefore, total amount of D ordered would be 480 Units
which would be released 1 weak prior to the planned receipt as the lead
time is of 1 week.
