Write a short essay on the importance of reading and understanding

the intention served by authors/writers.

The author's purpose is the reason or motivation for writing a text. Knowledge of
the author's purpose allows readers to respond to the text and to match
appropriate texts to specific needs.

Knowing the author's intention helps us identify the techniques the writer used to
achieve that intention, such as word choice, style, tone, and, of course, content.
Some authors use their writing to provide readers with information and facts.

Writers who aim to inform readers try to present information without adding their
own interpretation or viewpoint. They will become effective communicators after
they learn how to identify the purpose and distinguish the words and phrases that
are crucial to that aim.

These serve the author's aim of description, sharing, and expression. Although it
may appear that they are enlightening you, if you stop to think about it, an
author's account of another person or their own life experiences explains who
they are as a person, communicates their feelings with you, or in some other way
displays their emotions to you.
