Arts Promotion and Preservation

The art and culture of our nation are a vast continuity evolving from generation to generation.
Preservation and conservation of Philippines’s rich cultural heritage and promotion of all forms of art and
culture, both tangible and intangible is essential in nation building.

Monuments, archaeological sites, anthropology and ethnology, folk and tribal arts, literature and
handicrafts, performing art of music-dance-drama and visual arts of paintings-sculpture-graphics must be
preserve and protect as part of our identity as a Filipino.

To establish arts promotion and preservation, Executive Order No. 118 created the Presidential
Commission on Culture and the Arts in 1987. Five years later, Republic Act 7356 established the National
Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).

The following is your task for this activity:

2. Enumerate the objectives for National Commission for Culture and the Arts
a. The goal of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts is to coordinate national efforts in
promoting the culture and arts of the Philippines. This also conserves Filipino heritage, preserves
tradition, and integrates these into the cultural mainstream. NCCA also promotes artistic
development and disseminates products of arts and culture.______________________________
b. Discuss the symbolism used in “Alab ng Haraya” (The Flame of Imagination) in relevance to the
goal of NCCA
Fire
The fire in the logo of the NCCA which is also called as “Alab ng Haraya” symbolizes the highest
and burning passion of imagination to arts that came from the Three-tiered censer. Just like how
NCCA live up to it’s goal which is to preserve, nourish, and develop the culture and art of the
Filipino people.

The Censer symbolizes the organization, economic support, and an orientation that came from the
tradition, history, and culture which is the main goal and what NCCA provides.

Gold
The logo was chosen to be in the color of gold to show and symbolize our rich and wealthy
tradition, culture and history.

CCP The sub commission responsible for different arts from various regions and bring
it together to showcase unto the whole world.

This sub commission is the one responsible for the promotion, restoratio, and
NHCP conservation of Cultural and Historical heritage from various regions.

This sub commission is the one responsible for the repository and preservation of
National the country's archaeological artifacts, natinal treasures, and rare specimens that
Museum was found and can be found here in our country.
NCCA
National In this sub commission, this is where the cultural and historical literary pieces
Library from various regions in the philippines will be kept and be preserved.

National This sub commission was the guardian to over 400 documents ranging from the
Archives of the Spanish colonization or Spanish era and diferent records too dating from the
Phil. American period. This is to keep these private records with archival value safe.
This sub commission encourages the promotion of reading and writing original

Filipino works in different dialects. And maintains the importance of historical
works and traditions of ethnolinguistic groups and other enactments.
3. You are the elected representative of your district. You need to write a proposal for an establishment
or creation of a new agency or institution that would promote and preserve the arts and culture specific
to your region. Include in your proposal the following:
a. Name of agency/ institution

Local Institution of Taguig for Various Products.

b. Function
Various works dating from decades ago up until today has been one of the main livelihood works of the
Taguigenos. Farmers and Fishermen were the top 2 works that people do up until today, and I think
that even though they’ve been working non stop generation by generation, they are still not given the
recognition that they deserve for the products and services they give to people. In this institution, their
products like bags, slippers, and other products made from waterlilies or any materials that they
harvest and made will be preserved here and will be giving recognition for those people working hard
to feed their fellow men. This is for the future generations of the Taguig people to appreciate thei
efforts of the farmers and fishermen who works hard everyday to feed us.

c. Projects
• Old and historical objects that has relation to the history of Taguig will be collected and be
preserved here.
• Products made by farmers and fishermen ranging from decades ago or the time when Taguig
was made will be preserved and conserve here.
• Seminars that will showcase and educate the youth and future generations that being a farmer
or fisherman is not a cheap and low class job and rather be taught about how these jobs were
one of the hardest ones to do since thousands of people are being fed by them.
