7
Selection of Bush
• Other dimensions of bush are
• l1= 16mm
• l2= 12mm
• d3= 30mm
8
Selection of locator
• For better rigidity- 2 locators and 2 clamps
on both sides are used
• Select locating pin corresponding to jib
plate thickness
9
Selection of locator
• Width of workpiece = 45 mm
• Therefore the width of jig is selected as
= 45mm
• Use 2 locators for perfect alignment at a width
of 45 mm
10
Selection of locator
• Locator head diameter , (DDB 5.92)
• D= 16mm
• h1=14mm
• Other Dimensions
• d=15mm,
•
11
Selection of locator
• h1=14mm, (DDB 5.92)
• h2=22mm,
• d1=12mm,
• d2=11.5
12
Design of Jig Plate
• Thickness of jig plate must be equal to the
length of the bush o, l2 of the bush= 12mm
or greater than the length of the bush.
• Initial Assumption
• The jig plate thickness =12mm = l2 of the
bush
13
Design of Jig Plate
• The jig plate thickness =15 mm > l2 of the
bush (12mm)
• The length of h1 must be less than or equal
to the thickness of jig plate (h1=14mm)
14
Design of Jig Body
15
Design of Jig Body
• Width of the jig plate ,W=45mm ( width of the
workpiece,)
• Length of jig plate = 2tp+lw+h2+Allowance
• = (2X15) + 75 + 22+ 15 =142mm
• tp – thickness of jig plate = 15mm
• Lw – length of work piece = 45mm
16
Design of Jig Body
• Height of jig plate = Hw + tp + clearance for
chip removal
• Hw ,Height of the work piece = 52mm
• Tp, thickness of the jig plate=15mm
• = 52+15+clearance for chip removal
17
Design of Jig Body
• Clearance between work piece and top jig
plate
• = 0.5Xdrill dia – for ductile
• = equal to drill dia – for brittle
• The material is ductile ,
• So,height of jig plate=52+15+9 =76 mm
18
Selection of Clamp
• Pressure pad assembling is used to clamp right
hand side of work piece and
• fixed at the end of clamp.
• 2 clamps are selected for better rigidity
• (DDB 5.104)
19
Selection of Clamp
• Outer dia of pressure pad = d1 = 16mm
• Other dimensions
• d4 = 6.4mm
• f=3.5mm
• h = 9.5mm
•
20
Selection of Clamp
• d5 = 12mm
• d6=7mm
• d7 = 2mm
• Size of screw M8
• Fastening pin= 2m6X8
