 Produce a piece of writing via compound sentences.
 Teaching students to create perfect sentences to make their writings more effective.

 Exemplify each type of sentence and use it in the writings.

methods are borrowed and adapted to suit the requirement of the learners.)

Announcing the Topic: Today, we are going to learn about “Compound sentences”
Introduction
Explain briefly, what is sentence and its types along with the examples. After
explaining the basics of the sentences, ask them about conjunctions. Why we use
conjunctions. Explain them about conjunctions and its types (co-ordinate conjunctions and
subordinate conjunctions). These are given in the worksheet.
Co-ordinate Conjunctions: ‘and, but, or, nor, for, yet, so’
Subordinate Conjunctions: ‘After, although, because, before, how, if, once, since, than,
that, though, till, until, when, where, whether, while’.
Ask them why we use conjunctions and tell them ‘these are used to connect phrases
and clauses’. Define the term “Compound Sentences” and give them few examples.
i. Sana ate ice cream and Mamona drank lemonade.
ii. Mom went to work but papa went to the party.
iii. Mr. Ahmad needed a walk, but Zainab was late for school.
Provide them the worksheet and ask them to read about compound sentences. Then
ask them to find out the compound sentences given in the story. Discuss the compound
sentences of the story. At the end, tell them how to enhance the beauty of the language by
incorporating different types of sentences in your writings.

drill kind of story.

Now tell them about the compound sentences and exemplify them. Then explain them
the difference between simple sentence and compound sentences. Also explain them about
conjunctions and how you can combine sentences through conjunctions.

Formative Evaluation
Whenever students have quiet writing time, remind them to include compound, and
simple sentences as they are writing. Ask students to think about how varying the type of
sentences and how they use in their writing makes it smoother and more interesting to read.
At the end ask students cross check questions, it will show how much they have understood
the lesson like

 Kindly exemplify simple and compound sentences?
 How will you differentiate compound sentences from simple sentences?
Homework
Give them a homework to write a paragraph via compound and simple sentences.
