※ This document is not related to visa issuance. It is only for students’ own
keepings. (Please refer to p.5 for more information about CoA for visa)
※ You can download the Certificate of Admission (Korean or English) during
the designated period only. No Certificate of Admission will be issued or
sent to students other than the designated period. It is the student’s
responsibility to either print/save during the specified period.

the following documents are not submitted within the deadline, visa issuance
through the university will not be possible and admission may be revoked.

※ Ensure that the correct amount (KRW) is deposited into the student’s virtual account shown
on the tuition invoice. The fee incurred when transferring the tuition must be paid separately,
and please make sure that the amount deposited after paying the fee matches the amount
of the tuition fee shown on the tuition invoice. The virtual account is a unique account
number for each student, and the name of the depositor does not have to be the student.

※ Registration process (1)~(4) must be completed within the specified deadline.


If you do not register within the deadline, the university will assume that you
do not intend to register and will cancel your admission.

■ Certificate of Admission & Visa Issuance

1. Certificate of Admission (CoA) for visa issuance


The Certificate of Admission (CoA) is an official
document approved by the Immigration Office to
help international students apply for a student visa
(D-2).
Sample of CoA

2) Issuance Requirements (Must meet all 3 requirements)


① Original Document of Final High School Transcript and High School
Graduation Certificate with apostille/consular authentication submission
(Transfer students also need to submit the Transcript and Graduation
Certificate with apostille/consular authentication from their previous
institution.)
② Proof of financial ability through a bank account balance certificate
(amount equivalent to USD 20,000 or more)
③ Tuition payment confirmation during the tuition payment period

※ The Certificate of Admission can be downloaded only once, so please
configure your web browser to allow pop-up windows in advance, and
you must get it issued by yourself.

2. D-2 Visa Recipients: International students residing in Korea or abroad who do


not have visa to study abroad.
1) Visas that allow study abroad activities: D-2 (student), F-2 (residence), F-4
(overseas Koreans), and F-5 (permanent residency). If you already have a visa
other than D-2, you must contact the immigration office in Korea in advance
for a visa change or for permission for activities outside the qualifications of
current visa.

2) How to apply for D-2 VISA


① Domestic Residents (International students residing in Korea)

Category Description

How to Students who are residing in Korea must visit the Immigration Office to update
their visa status so that it will allow the student to study at an academic
apply institution in Korea.

※ Students residing in Korea with C type visa CANNOT change their visa
status to D-2 in Korea.

※ The D-2 visa application will be cancelled if student leaves Korea before the
change of visa status is permitted. Therefore, students should leave Korea
only after receiving the Alien Registration Card from the Immigration Office.
Notes
※ If students applied and are admitted to Korea University while studying at
another university in Korea, they must report their change of school status
to the Immigration Office.

② Foreign Residents (International students residing outside of Korea)

Category Description

How to Students who are residing outside of Korea must visit the Korean
apply embassy/consulate in the country of their residence to apply for the D-2 visa.

※ Please note that the certificate of graduation from high


school/university/college may be required to submit for D-2 visa application,
so please prepare the required documents before visiting the Korean
embassy/consulate

Notes
※ Required time and documents for D-2 issuance may be different depending
on the country or region. Please note that the visa issuance may take even
longer due to COVID-19; so please contact the nearest South Korean
embassy/consulate in advance for more information so that there will be no
disruptions to your admission into KU
※ With new strict guidelines of visa issuance conditions and screening procedures, all
conditions ① to ③ of the ‘2) Issuance Requirements’ on page 5 must be satisfied.

■ Orientation Information
1. Dates: August, 2022 (TBA)
(It is expected be held in-person from August 22nd to 26th, and GSC will
inform you of the details separately through e-mail.)
2. Department-in-charge: Global Services Center (GSC) (Tel.+82-2-3290-5158/5174)
3. With new strict guidelines made by the National Health Insurance Act of
Republic of Korea, starting from March 2021, all foreign students (D-2 visa
holders) and overseas Korean (F visa holders) are required to hold a National
Health Insurance (NHIS). Further details of the registration procedure will be
provided by the Global Services Center (GSC).
However, the medical coverage of the national health insurance may not be
sufficient, so students are strongly advised to additionally acquire a private
health insurance for your stay in Korea.

■ Intensive Korean Language Program for New International Students


1. Students who do not have the necessary Korean proficiency to understand major
courses need to improve their language abilities through Intensive Korean Language
Program. Therefore, those who fit into this category are obliged to enroll in the
Intensive Korean Language Program. Students are informed via email before the start
of the semester whether they are required to participate in the Program.

2. Additional Submission of Proof of language Proficiency


- If you have an updated TOPIK/TOEFL/IELTS Academic score or Certificate from the
Korean Language Center at Korea University (Seoul Campus) since the time of
making your application to Korea University, you may submit them to the Institute for
General Education (kuige@korea.ac.kr) by August 5, 2022.

■ Dormitory Application & Self-quarantine Guide


1. Application Period: July 4 - July 16, 2022
2. How to Apply: Individual application for international students is in the website
for International Students
1) Create an account in the dormitory website (https://dorm.korea.ac.kr)
2) Online application: refer to the pop-up window on the main page
3) Check your selection result through the dormitory website
4) Deposit the dormitory fee after printing the billing statement
- If the dormitory fee and deposit is not paid until the deadline, the
application will be automatically cancelled and assigned to students in the
waiting list.
3. Dormitory Application Result Release
1) 1st presentation: July 20, 2022
- Deadline for the payment of dormitory fee: July 21 to July 31, 2022
2) 2nd presentation: August 3, 2022
- Deadline for the payment of dormitory fee: August 4 to August 12, 2022
4. Official date of joining the dormitory: August 20, 2022
5. Dormitory Residence Requirements (Three required documents)
1) Rapid antigen test or PCR test negative confirmation
- Rapid antigen test negative confirmation (valid until midnight on the 24 hour day
from the issuance date)
- PCR test: If the rapid antigen test result is positive, you can enter the dormitory
only if the PCR test result is negative.
(Acknowledgement of effect until midnight on the day 48 hours from the time the
test result is notified. However, if the expiration date is indicated in the text
notification, it can be recognized until the relevant period.)
2) Certificate of Immigration
- Visit the "Government 24" website or Seongbuk-gu Office directly on the day of
joining (or the previous day) to print out the certificate of immigration and submit
it. (You must prove your immigration details for the last two weeks.)

3) Tuberculosis certificate
- Examination can be done at a public health center or a nearby internal medicine
clinic. (Only the results issued within 90 days of the date of joining the dormitory
are valid.)
※ Only students who have satisfied all these requirements above are allowed to enter the
dormitory. Students who wish to apply for the dormitory must check the
dormitory website (https://dorm.korea.ac.kr/) prior for the exact schedule.
6. Inquiries on Self-quarantine
International students who are currently residing abroad must check the self-quarantine
guidelines in advance. Notice on the period for self-quarantine, inspection before the
release and more may be subject to change, so please contact the Korean embassy or
consulate in the country of residence.
