BENEFITS OF DIETARY FOODS

Dietary foods are foods that are low in calories, fat, and sugar, and high in
nutrients. They are an important part of a healthy diet and can help to prevent or
manage several chronic diseases.

Benefits:

Some of the benefits of dietary foods include:

• Dietary fibers help to reduce the risk of obesity as they are typically lower in
calories than other foods, which can help you to maintain a healthy weight.
• Dietary foods can help to lower your cholesterol levels and blood pressure,
which can reduce your risk of heart disease.
• Dietary foods can help to regulate your blood sugar levels, which can
reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
• Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help to reduce
your risk of developing certain types of cancer, such as colon cancer and
breast cancer.
• Dietary foods are high in fiber, which can help to promote regular bowel
movements and prevent constipation.
• Dietary foods are rich in calcium and vitamin D, which are essential for
strong bones and teeth.
• Eating a healthy diet can help to improve your mood and cognitive function.

Examples of Dietary Foods:

Here are some examples of dietary foods:
• Fruits: Apples, bananas, berries, citrus fruits, melons, peaches, pears
• Vegetables: Broccoli, carrots, celery, cucumbers, leafy greens, onions,
peppers, potatoes, tomatoes
• Whole grains: Brown rice, whole-wheat bread, oatmeal, quinoa
• Lean protein: Fish, chicken, beans, lentils, tofu
• Healthy fats: Avocados, nuts, seeds
Adding Dietary Foods to your diet:

Tips for incorporating dietary foods into your diet:

• Make half your plate fruits and vegetables.
• Choose whole grains over refined grains.
• Limit your intake of processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats.
• Cook more meals at home so you can control the ingredients.

Making small changes to your diet can make a big difference to your overall
health. By incorporating more dietary foods into your diet, you can improve your
chances of living a long, healthy life. In addition, a healthy diet can help manage
blood glucose levels, keep blood pressure and cholesterol within target ranges, and
prevent or delay complications of diabetes. The World Health Organization
emphasizes that diets rich in vegetables and fruits significantly lower the risk of
obesity, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and certain types of cancer
