CONTENT STANDARD:
The learner demonstrates understanding of lines, shapes, colors and texture, and principles
of balance, proportion and variety through drawing.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD:
The learner creates a portrait of himself and his family which shows the elements and
principles of art by drawing.
LEARNING COMPETENCY:
The learner, identifies different lines, shapes, texture used by artists in drawing
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:
a. Describe and name the different kinds of lines
b. Use lines to draw representations of people, animals and houses or anything that
they see around them;
c. Appreciate the importance of lines in an artwork.

LINE: The path of a point moving
through space.
TYPES OF LINE
Vertical lines are straight up and down
lines that are moving in space without any
slant and are perpendicular to horizontal
lines. They suggest height and strength
because they extend towards the sky and
seem unshakeable.
Horizontal lines are straight lines parallel
to the horizon that move from left to right.
They suggest width, distance, calmness,
and stability.
