Exercise 2.2

DISCUSS THE APPROPRIATENESS OF THE FOLLOWING ASSESSMENT

METHODS:

1. Objective test – appropriate for the various levels of the hierarchy of educational
objectives.
2. Essay test– when properly planned, can test the student’s grasp of high-level
cognitive skills, particularly in areas of application, analysis, synthesis, and judgment.
3. Performance test- A performance checklist consists of the list of behaviors that
make up a certain type of performance. It is used to determine whether or not an
individual behaves in a certain way when asked to complete a particular task.
4. Oral Questioning- An appropriate assessment method when the objective is to
determine the student’s ability to communicate ideas in a coherent verbal sentence.
5. Self-Reports - These are useful supplementary assessment methods when used
in conjunction with oral questioning and performing tests.
6. Observational Reports- These are useful supplementary assessment methods
when used in conjunction with oral questioning and performing tests.
7. Product Reports- These products that are frequently rated in education such as
book reports, maps, charts, diagrams, notebooks, essays, and creative endeavors of
all sorts.

IF YOU WERE TO UTILIZE ALL THESE PROCEDURES, HOW WOULD YOU PUT
WEIGHTS ON EACH OF THE PROCEDURE. EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWER.
Assessing students can be challenging. Objective tests are the easiest to
implement, while oral questioning can be difficult for some students. Performance
and product tests provide tangible results, but observational and self-reports can be
unreliable. Essay tests are the most challenging due to their subjective nature.
