TIRES
Cat® Tires
As a Caterpillar machine owner, you understand the importance of tires to the performance of every machine you operate.
That’s why we focus on offering a tire line that allows you to work efficiently in almost every application.
Cat Quality
The renowned Caterpillar quality is achieved by ensuring the performance and durability of every component in every piece
of equipment. Tires are no exception. You understand the challenging conditions and work requirements facing your skid steer
loaders, backhoe loaders, and telehandlers. As the interface between the unpredictable terrain and the machine, you know that
tires play a key role in overall productivity.
Tires
They must be stable, yet agile; and durable, yet economical. This section details Caterpillar’s expanded line of tires which reflects
extensive research and engineering expertise that only Caterpillar and our dealers can deliver to you.
Premium Conventional Tires
Caterpillar Premium Conventional tires are engineered to deliver the trademark
Cat durability — which says a lot. Skid steer sizes are equipped with the industry’s
deepest tread depth, thickest side wall (on a premium conventional model), and
heaviest rim guard. Cat tires outperform the competition.
Advantages
• Self-cleaning, open tread design for reduced maintenance time
• Extra large, tapered lugs for traction in slippery conditions and maximum
wear life
• Dual side wall construction for puncture and tear protection
• An advanced blend of natural and synthetic rubber and a reinforced bead area
for maximum wear life
• Heavy rim guard reduces potential for damage to tire bead and wheel flange
Applications: Highly Recommended
• Dry Soil
• Snow
Applications: Recommended
• Rock & Shale
• Quarries
• Rocky Soil
• Wet Soil
• Sandy Soil

Low Side Wall (LSW) Tires
For applications in rough terrain, Cat LSW technology offers a smooth, stable ride;
exceptional puncture resistance; and run flat capability on skid steer loader sizes.
The strength of the side wall is the key to this tire’s performance. It is achieved by
combining a lower profile, considerably thicker side wall, and a unique flange and
bead design. The bead resists becoming unseated from the flange after a puncture
as it does with most premium conventional tires, thus reducing costly downtime.
Advantages
• Self-cleaning, open tread design for reduced maintenance time
• Extra large, tapered lugs for traction in slippery conditions and maximum

wear life
• An advanced blend of natural and synthetic rubber and a reinforced bead area
for maximum wear life
• Exceptional stability for confident mobility on uneven work surfaces
• Reduced impact and side wall damage due to the heaviest and largest rim
guard in the industry and extra rubber that makes the side wall up to three times
heavier than other tires
• LSW technology allows work to continue even when tire goes flat, reducing
costly downtime (skid steer only)
• Higher carcass strength for greater resistance to impact failures and other
abusive treatment

Premium Conventional vs. Low Side Wall
12.3000 (312) 12.3000 (312)
The premium conventional tire is a rugged design that competes head to head
with Galaxy’s Beefy Baby and Goodyear’s IT 323. Low Side Wall (LSW) tires can
be used in more demanding applications where tire punctures are more frequent
or terrain is rutted or uneven which should help improve skid steer operation.
5.572
The sidewall cross-section of the LSW is over two times thicker than the industry
premium conventional tire side wall thickness.
A skid steer loader will not lose ground clearance when LSW tire assemblies
are installed. The outside diameter of the Caterpillar LSW tire assembly and the
Caterpillar premium conventional tire assembly are the same. The outside diameters
of the rear premium conventional tire (shown below) is 33.0 inches and the same
33.0 inch diameter is shown in a low side wall tire on the front of the skid steer.
Premium conventional (PC) and low side wall (LSW) tire assembly diameters always
remain the same, only the wheel diameter (rim) changes.
Premium Conventional Flotation Tires
For work in soft terrain, such as at a nursery, in sand, or some landscape sites, use
Cat Premium Conventional Flotation tires. A new industry trend, the flotation design
can replace the use of tracks in some applications. Cat Premium Conventional
Flotation tires are constructed with the same rugged durability as Cat Premium
Conventional tires, but are engineered specifically to create less ground pressure.
The flotation tire design incorporates the traditional lug pattern with a wider footprint
to provide a lower ground pressure.
The flotation tires are designed to stay within the larger bucket widths of the
Caterpillar machines (66 inch bucket use for 216, 226, 28, 232, and 242 Models
or 72 inch bucket use for 236, 246, 248, 252, and 262 Models.)
The Caterpillar flotation tire is made like the premium conventional tire, except the
tire width is 15.5 inches instead of 10 or 12 inches.
• Wider footprint for better load distribution
• Stable ride in soft terrain without sinking
• Heavier, 12-ply rating for greater load carrying capacity

Extreme Duty Solid
Sold as assembly only
Cat Extreme Duty Solid tires perform on the toughest applications, especially smooth
and hard improved surfaces such as concrete or asphalt. As its name suggests, this
is a solid, molded tire with no filler. It improves productivity and profit, because it
eliminates the downtime and repair costs associated with punctures and tears.
Advantages
• Three times longer wear than pneumatics and filled tires
• Solid tire means no flats
• Higher load carrying capacity than pneumatics
