Isometric Figures
Isometric drawings simulate a 3D object from a particular viewpoint by aligning along three major axes.
If the snap angle is 0, the axes of the isometric planes are 30 degree, 90 degree, and 150 Once you set
the snap style to isometric, you can work on any of three planes, each with an associated pair of axes :
l
Let Aligns snap and grid along 90- and 150-degree axes
l
Top Aligns snap and grid along 30- and 150- degree axes
l
Right Aligns snap and grid along 30- and degree axes.
90 0
AET
Top
30 0
150 Left
0

Choosing one of the three isometric planes causes Ortho and the cross haris to be aligned along the
corresponding isometric axes. For example, when Ortho is on the points you specify align along the
simulated plane you are drawing on Therefore, you can draw the top plane, switch to the left plant to draw
another side, and switch to the right plane to complete the drawing.
If you are drawing on isometric planes, use an ellipse to represent a circle viewed from an oblique angle.
The easiest way to draw an ellipse with the correct shape is to use the isocircle option of ELLIPSE.
Note To represent concentric circles, draw another ellipse with the same center rather than offsetting the
original ellipse. Offsetting produces an oval-shaped spline that does not represent foreshortened
distances as you would expect.

AutoCAD- 3D Modeling
AutoCAD ®3D Drawing, Modeling and Visualization
Summary
AutoCAD® 's three-dimensional drawing capabilities make it a practical modeling program for a
variety of applications and disciplines. Yet learning to work in 3D on a 2D-display device is a major
AET
challenge. This course is designed to introduce users who are proficient with AutoCAD® 's 2D
commands to the looks available for modeling in three dimensions.
Objectives
Upon completion of this course, attendees will be familiar with the 3D copabilities of AutoCAD]
and will know how to create, modify, and display 3D drawing.
Prerequisites
AutoCADs fundamentals or equivalent sill level. A minimum of 10 hours of experience working
with AutoCAD is recommended.
