MR. AND MS. BATSTATEU 2023: The Grand Coronation

I. Description

Mr. and Ms. Batangas State University 2023: The Grand Coronation is an esteemed project that serves
as a prestigious platform that celebrates the wit, talent and beauty of its students. Through a series of
segments, candidates may showcase their intellectual excellence, creative aptitude, and charisma.

This pageant is designed to identify and crown outstanding individuals who embody the values and
principles of BatStateU – The NEU. Candidates shall undergo a rigorous selection process from each
constituent campus that evaluated their capabilities, talents, communication skills, visual and physique,
and commitment to the University causes. They must represent the university's commitment to
nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel not only academically but also in various facets that
advance transform of the communities.

Mr. and Ms. Batangas State University 2023: The Grand Coronation encourages personal growth,
fosters confidence, and promotes camaraderie among academic community. It aims to inspire the
university community and beyond by showcasing the diverse talents and capabilities of its participants
while emphasizing the importance of education, diversity, and social responsibility. Ultimately, this
pageant serves as a beacon of excellence and pride for Batangas State University, symbolizing its
dedication in producing competent and virtuous individuals with advocacies to motivate progress in
the community.

II. General Guidelines

1. Candidates will come from constituent campuses following the result of their campus pre-
selections for their representative for the Mr. and Ms. BatStateU – The NEU 2023.

Alangilan 2 pair of male and female candidates


Lipa 2 pair of male and female candidates
Malvar 2 pair of male and female candidates
Nasugbu 2 pair of male and female candidates
Pablo Borbon 2 pair of male and female candidates

2. The candidates of each constituent and extension campus shall be provided a financial
assistance amounting to 5,000 for the sponsored casual, photoshoot, swim wear, and formal
attire provided by the sponsors. Further to provide other assistance that will support other
expenses (transportation, food, and other costumes) of the candidates of their respective
constituent campus.
3. Candidates must be a bonafide student of the aforementioned constituent campuses.
4. A minimum height requirement of 5’2” for female candidates, and a minimum height
requirement of 5’5” for male candidates
5. College graduates or those holding a baccalaureate degree is ineligible
a. Must carry a minimum academic load of twelve (12) units in the first and second semester
or term of the current school year and must have passed the required percentage as follows:

b. College graduates or baccalaureate degree holders are disqualified to participate.


c. Participants transferring from another school must satisfy the one (1) year residency
requirement which shall be counted as performing years.
d. Performers classified as foreign students are disqualified to participate.

III. Pre-Pageant Activities

Photo and Video Shoot


1. Candidates will have a photoshoot to be conducted by the organizers and/or the sponsors of
the said event. The photos will be used for the publicity materials of the said event and for
the People’s Choice Award.
2. The attire of the photoshoot will be provided by the sponsor/s of the said event.
3. Candidates are advised to memorize their advocacy message that will be shot after their
scheduled photo and video-shoot.
4. The venue for the photo and video shoot will be announced to the candidates prior to the
scheduled date of shoot.

Rehearsals
1. Candidates will be having scheduled rehearsals and are expected to attend all the rehearsal
schedules
2. All segments shall be practiced during the scheduled rehearsals.
See attached schedule of activities.
3. All candidates are required to attend the Final Rehearsals.

IV. Pageant Segments

CANDIDATES’ ADVOCACY VIDEO

1. Candidates will be filming an advocacy video (to be shot and edited by the organizing
committee), introducing herself/himself, sharing his/her personal causes and how she/he could
make an impact and push forward his/her advocacy in the community.
2. The judges will choose the best in Advocacy Video based on the given criteria:

Advocacy 60 %
Delivery 20 %
Overall Impact 20%
Total 100 %

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD

1. The people’s choice award is a special award that has not any official bearing with the judges
scores.
2. Winners will be determined based on Facebook reactions.
3. For Facebook votes, candidates who has the highest amount of heart reactions will be the
winners of the People’s Choice Award.

4. The organizing committee will be closely monitoring the number of likes for each candidate
and those that will be caught using auto-likes shall be disqualified for the award.

BATANGAS FESTIVAL COSTUME

1. Each candidate must wear a costume showcasing any Festivals celebrated in the Province
of Batangas.
• Back dressing is not allowed.
• The headdress shall only have a measurement of 1 foot high and 1 foot wide.
• A thirty-second (written) narrative description of the attire must be submitted
to the committee to be used during the competition.
2. The festival costume must not be looking inappropriate or vulgar.
3. The judges will be choosing the best in Batangas Festival Costume based on the given
criteria:

Stage Presence and Charisma 40 %
Overall Impact 20 %
Total 100 %

CASUAL WEAR

1. Each candidate must wear a casual attire for the segment.


2. There will be an official designer for the casual wear segment.
3. Candidates may wear any accessories as long as it will not seem inappropriate.
4. The judges will be choosing the best in Casual Wear and best in Production Number based
on the given criteria:

Confidence 30 %
Personality 30 %
Stage Presence, Charm and 30 %
Charisma
Overall Impact 10 %
Total 100 %

SWIM WEAR

1. For uniformity, there will be an official designer that shall provide the swimwear attire for
all of the candidates.
Alteration of the design is strictly prohibited.
2. Candidates may wear any accessories as long as it will not seem inappropriate.
3. In this segment, utilization of props is strictly forbidden.
4. The judges will be choosing the best in Swimwear based on the given criteria:

Confidence 30 %
Personality 30 %
Stage Presence, Charm and 30 %
Charisma
Overall Impact 10 %
Total 100 %

FORMAL WEAR

1. There will be an official designer for both the formal wear of female and male candidates.
2. The candidates can wear any accessories as long as it is not inappropriate or vulgar.
3. In the formal wear segment, utilization of props is strictly forbidden.
4. The judges will be choosing the best in Formal Wear based on the given criteria:

Poise, Beauty, and Stage Presence 50 %


Personality and Charm 40 %
Overall Impact 10 %
Total 100 %

CRITERIA FOR THE SELECTION OF TOP FIVE

1. The final judging for the selection of Top Five of the Mr. and Ms. BatStateU 2023: The
Grand Coronation will be based on the given criteria:

Preliminary Interview 20%


Casual Wear 20%
Swim Wear 20%
Batangas Festival Costume 20%
Formal Wear 20%
Total 100 %

2. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.

QUESTION AND ANSWER PORTION

1. The Top 5 candidates for male and female category will proceed to the Question-and-Answer
Portion.
2. The questions will be prepared by the Q-and-A committee.
3. Questions will be selected via draw lots and will be asked by the hosts.
4. The candidates will have a maximum of 60-seconds to answer the given question. The timer
will start after the question is repeated twice. Candidates cannot ask for the question to be
repeated again.
5. A sound will be played if the timer for answering has officially stopped.
6. Questions will be given in English language and candidates may answer in either English or
Filipino. The language used shall not have a bearing with the judges scores.

AWARDING OF WINNERS

1. The organizing committee will select the panel of judges for Mr. and Ms. BatStateU 2023: The
Grand Coronation.
2. Contestants, handlers, make-up artists, or those connected to the candidates shall not be allowed
to speak with any of the judges before, during, and after the competition. All inquiries must be
directed to the organizing committee.
3. The following are the special awards, which has no bearing in the overall scores:
• Best in Production Number
• Mr. and Ms. Photogenic
• Mr. and Ms. Congeniality (to be chosen by the candidates)
• People’s Choice Award
• Best in Advocacy Video
• Sponsor’s Choice (to be determined by the official event sponsor)

• 3rd Runners Up
• 4th Runners Up

CORONATION NIGHT

1. The coronation night will take place on December 13, 2023 at the Gov. Feliciano “Sanoy”
Memorial Levister Gymnasium, from 1:00 – 8:00 pm.
2. There will be designated rooms for the candidates.
3. Candidates will be giving the name of their pageant coordinator and/or handler/make-up artist
two days before the coronation night in order for the organizing committee to identify the
authorized persons.
4. There will be provided IDs for all the authorized persons to enter the backstage and designated
rooms.
5. Only the candidates, 1 pageant coordinator, organizing committee, 2 handlers/make-up
artists per pair are allowed in the backstage, and the designated rooms for the candidates.
6. Each candidate is responsible for their personal belongings. The organizers shall not be liable
to any damaged or missing belongings of the candidates and their companion, and sponsored
clothing that shall be worn by the candidates.
