HV Training

Our High-Voltage courses cover all aspects of working with and around HV
equipment.

Course Name: HV Switching Operations


Duration and Venue: 5 Days, at CT's Brisbane Training Centre, or at
Client Facility.
Description: This course is intended for electrical workers and
engineers working with HV switchgear in industrial facilities and
networks. Emphasis is placed on practical switching exercises, performed
either at our facility in Brisbane or on the client's HV equipment.
Participants are also taught switching theory and the responsibilities
of permit users and recipients.
Assessment: In-class progressive assessment, short-answer test papers.
Practical switching assessment.
Competency

Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course a nationally recognised
Statement of Attainment for the following Unit of Competency will be
issued:
UEPOPS349A
Operate High Voltage Primary Switchgear

UEPOPS428A Develop High Voltage Switching Programs


UEPOPS429A Co-ordinate and Direct Switching Programs
Prerequisite Competencies: Course participants will require a
Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent.
Course Fee: POA
Notes: Typically a minimum of 6 people is required to run the course.
The course can be customised to suit a particular site.

Course Name: HV Switching Refresher


Duration and Venue: 2 Days, at CT's Brisbane Training Centre or Client
Facility
Description: This course highlights relevant changes in standards and
legislation, and revisits the site's specific HVIA procedures, including
switching officer responsibilities, access, test and work permit issuing
and recipient duties. It is for personnel who are already authorised
switching officers and is recommended every 2 years.
Assessment: In-class progressive assessment, short-answer test papers.
Practical switching assessment.
Competency

Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course a certificate is issued
confirming refresher training for the competencies previously held by
the attendees.
Prerequisite Competencies: Course participants will require a
Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent, or tertiary
electrical qualification and must have previously completed a full HVSO
course.
Course Fee: POA
Notes: Typically a minimum of 6 people is required to run the course.
Competency Training reserves the right to cancel or postpone a course if
insufficient bookings are received.

Course Name: HV FUNCTIONAL SWITCHING


Duration and Venue: 1 or 2 days, at Client Facility
Description: This course is intended for electrical and non-electrical
personnel and provides training in how to safely isolate high voltage
equipment for mechanical or production maintenance, (i.e. not for HVIA
purposes). It is typically carried out on site, using the client's
equipment and procedures and the certification restricts participants'
operations to the specific equipment they have been trained to isolate.
The course duration depends on the number of participants and the
equipment on which training is to be conducted.
Assessment: In-class progressive assessment, short-answer test papers.
Practical switching demonstrations.
CompEtency

Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course a Statement of Completion is
issued.
Prerequisite Competencies: None
